The rise of Jordan Peterson as a conservative intellectual figure had everything to do with his rhetoric. The Canadian psychologist and professor first entered the public spotlight in 2016 by denouncing students at the University of Toronto who preferred to use gender-neutral pronouns. His 2018 bestseller, 12 Rules for Life, argues for traditional values as inseparable from social order. Online, he strikes an endlessly confrontational pose — responding, for example, to a 2022 Twitter suspension for deadnaming the actor Elliot Page with the immortal pronouncement, “Up yours, woke moralists! We’ll see who cancels who.

A little over a week ago, Twitter owner Elon Musk announced that targeted harassment on the site would lead to account suspensions — which had been company policy well before he bought the social platform at a grossly inflated price. His declaration was in response to a user indignant that others had called him “cis,” short for “cisgender,” meaning his gender identity conforms to the sex he was assigned at birth. It’s a term that describes someone who is, simply, not transgender.
Musk agreed, however, that this clinical label is offensive,...

YouTube took down a video of an interview that featured Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who made claims that there are chemicals in our water that are turning children transgender.
YouTube stated that they took down the video of the Jordan Peterson podcast because it violated their terms of service about vaccine misinformation.
Kennedy and Peterson tweeted about their interview being taken down. They also shared the video so that viewers can watch it on Twitter.
Kennedy is currently a presidential candidate in the Democratic primary. He has spoken about his views on vaccinations many times in different podcasts.
“What do you think … Should social media platforms censor presidential candidates? My conversation with @JordanBPeterson was deleted by @YouTube. Luckily you can watch it here on @Twitter (thank you @elonmusk). #Kennedy24,” Kennedy tweeted.

“Tech giants like @YouTube, @Facebook, @TikTok_US, and—until @ElonMusk wrote a check—@Twitter, flagging, banning, throttling, shadow banning, and demonetizing us is a constant occurrence,” tweeted Daily Wire co-ceo Jeremy Boreing in a thread last month. The thread revealed what Boreing called a Big Tech “cancel blitz” against the company, including YouTube’s demonetization of Matt Walsh’s channel after the firebrand repeatedly stated that men are men and women are women when referring to people claiming otherwise. The company responded by putting “The Matt Walsh Show” on Twitter. In its first 28 days on Elon Musk’s platform, the show had 7.4M video views, 24M impressions, and its new account grew by 140,000 followers.

The third film in the Ant-Man franchise, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, is now playing in theaters everywhere. Jesse Eisenberg stars as Ralphie, a disenfranchised young man whose life spirals out of control when he falls under the spell of a cultish ‘family of men’.
Money pressures and his own difficult childhood have left Ralphie conflicted about impending fatherhood with his girlfriend (Odessa Young) as he struggles to find his place in society.

Far-right YouTuber Steven Crowder has kicked off a public feud with The Daily Wire after the right-wing news outlet approached him with a measly four-year contract offer worth a pitiful 50 million, and some fiduciary obligations on his part.
On Tuesday, Crowder launched the “Stop Big Con” initiative and accused “conservative media giants” of being “no better than Big Tech” and putting profit over the honest defense of conservative values.
In a video posted to his YouTube channel, Crowder described a period of “free agency” following his departure from The Blaze in December.

San Francisco, Jan 2 (Ians) Twitter CEO Elon Musk on Monday said that the 1968 book “The Population Bomb” by American biologist Paul Ehrlich is the “most damaging” book ever written.
Twitter user Dr Jordan B Peterson, who is a well-known author and psychologist tweeted: “Paul Ehrlich has been famously wrong about everything he has predicted for six decades.”
To this, Musk replied: “His ‘Population Bomb’ book might the most damaging anti-human thing ever written.”
The 90-year-old Ehrlich is known for his warnings about the consequences of population growth and limited resources.
The controversial book, which Ehrlich co-authored with his wife Anne, warns of the perils of overpopulation: mass starvation, societal upheaval, and environmental deterioration.
The best-seller had been criticised at the time for painting an overly dark picture of the future.

Kathy Griffin is sharing how she felt about her short-lived Twitter suspension in November and her subsequent reinstatement alongside previously banned accounts Jordan Peterson and the Babylon Bee.
In a new essay for Newsweek, the comedian, TV host and actress discusses cancel culture, how the industry has changed and running a series of Hollywood salons. But she also talks about her experiences with social media, including her Nov. 6 suspension from the platform — along with several other high-profile users — after she changed her display name to Elon Musk, in an effort to point out issues with the Twitter owner’s new rules around verification and parody accounts.
The comedian says she was already “planning to leave Twitter after the midterms,” describing the platform as having gotten too “‘Musk-y,'” but noted that it had suspended her first.

Elon Musk says Twitter will enact a general amnesty for suspended accounts next week.

A majority (72 percent) of the 3.1 million users voted in favor of the amnesty for blocked accounts, a group that includes former Ku Klux Klan grand wizard David Duke, former Trump advisors Steve Bannon and Roger Stone, right wing writer Milo Yiannopoulos, singer Azealia Banks, pharma bro Martin Shkreli and neo-fascist group the Proud Boys.

Duncan Jones has slammed Donald Trump after the former President used one of his father music icon David Bowie’s old records during a political rally. Elon Musk reinstated Donald Trump’s account on Twitter on Saturday, reversing a ban that has kept the former president off the social media site since a pro-Trump mob attacked the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, as Congress was poised to certify Joe Biden’s election victory.
Musk made the announcement in the evening after holding a poll that asked Twitter users to click “yes” or “no” on whether Trump’s account should be restored. The “yes” vote won, with 51.2 percent.
“The people have spoken. Trump will be reinstated. Vox Populi, Vox Dei,” Musk tweeted, using a Latin phrase meaning “the voice of the people, the voice of God.”
Shortly afterward Trump’s account, which had earlier appeared as suspended, reappeared on the platform complete with his former tweets, more than 59,000 of them. However his followers were gone, at least initially.

Olivia Wilde is continuing to battle rumours of an on-set feud between her and the star of her new film, Florence Pugh.
The release of Don’t Worry Darling, which Wilde directed, was overshadowed by reports of behind-the-scenes drama – from Shia Labeouf denying he was fired from the project to Harry Styles appearing to spit on Chris Pine (which Wilde has since denied).
Speaking to Elle magazine as part of their Women in Hollywood series, Wilde doubled down on her denial of the animosity between her and Pugh, calling the rumours “untruths”.
“This film is trying to ask big questions, but [it’s] ‘Let’s just focus on this sideshow over here,’” the director, who also acts in the film, said.
“Having been a known figure for a while… makes me well-equipped to have a Teflon exterior. But it also means that you’re under a different kind of microscope. It’s brought...

At this point, nearly everyone has heard about Don’t Worry Darling. Unfortunately, most people probably associate the Olivia Wilde feature with all the controversy surrounding the behind-the-scenes drama. Overall, Don’t Worry Darling did some solid business at the box office during its first weekend, garnering 19.2 million during its opening weekend. It isn’t a flop, which is good considering all the negative press going into the feature. Perhaps one of the reasons fans were so interested in Don’t Worry Darling is due to the fact that Olivia Wilde based the villain on a real-life figure? “We based character

Dr. Mehmet Oz‘s Democratic rival in a Pennsylvania U.S. Senate race already was slamming the candidate for trekking to California for a fundraiser.
On Friday, John Fetterman called out Oz for the backdrop of the Republican candidate’s Santa Ana event: a room that featured Adolf Hitler’s car.
In what appears to be a Veep-like moment, Oz was photographed speaking at the event with the vehicle in the background. The website Jezebel picked up on it, citing the Instagram account of one of the attendees, Shane Mitchell. Also among the speakers, via video, was author Jordan Peterson. The Instagram account appears to have been taken down since the story published.

Megyn Kelly slammed Trevor Noah on Tuesday during an episode of her podcast, “The Megyn Kelly Show,” shortly after the television host announced he was stepping down from “The Daily Show” after seven years. She suggested that it wasn’t Noah’s choice to leave, but rather, he was forced out by Comedy Central due to low ratings.
“He was a ratings killer. That’s the truth,” Kelly said.
She went on to claim that Noah “wasn’t the lead political commentator” like Stephen Colbert, who took over as host of CBS’s “Late Show” from David Letterman in 2015.

Russell Brand claims he’s been “censored” by YouTube for making a “relatively small error” on the platform.
After having a video removed from the video streaming service, Brand has now swapped to alternative platform Rumble, which he claims will enable him to talk more “freely”.
“We have officially been censored by YouTube,” the 47-year-old claimed in a clip posted this week.
“They took down one of our videos for misinformation, but why are big media organisations not censored for misinformation in the same way? Is it because YouTube are part of the mainstream media now?”
He said YouTube originally removed his video because it “cited information on official government websites, which we misinterpreted”.
However, Brand claims that he uploaded an apology video for the “error” made, which he has now deleted to mirror YouTube’s decision and avoid risk of accidentally making the claim again.

This review originally ran in conjunction with the film’s world premiere at the 2022 Venice Film Festival.
To say that “Don’t Worry Darling” is a mixture of “The Stepford Wives” and “Get Out” is both accurate and deeply misleading. It’s accurate because Olivia Wilde’s satiric and somewhat frantic psychological thriller does borrow from films like “Stepford,” where an idealized community is one in which the women are dolls designed for male satisfaction, and “Get Out,” which uses horror trappings to grapple with timely issues of power and privilege.
But it’s misleading because there’s another film to which “Don’t Worry Darling” owes even more than it does to those two – but to even mention the other film’s name would be to give away a crucial plot twist that happens late in the film and changes everything.
So we won’t mention The Film That Shall Remain Nameless,...

Olivia Wilde has addressed whether there has been a “falling out” between herself and Florence Pugh.
The director answered the question from a journalist during the Don’t Worry Darling press conference at the Venice International Film Festival.
Wilde was in attendance alongside stars Harry Styles, Gemma Chan, and Chris Pine. Its lead actor, Pugh, however, was absent.
News that Pugh would not be attending the panel came amid reports of a feud between herself and Wilde that have been ongoing since earlier this year.
“Can you just clear the air and address whether there has been a falling out there and if so why, because it’s something that people are discussing?” one reporter asked Wilde during the conference.
The director responded: “Florence is a force and we are so grateful that she is able to make it tonight despite being in production on Dune. I know as a...

There has been an outpouring of love and support for Brendan Fraser on Twitter, following the first screening of his new film The Whale.
The psychological drama from Black Swan director Darren Aronofsky premiered at the Venice Film Festival on Sunday (4 September).
Fraser, who hasn’t had a lead role since straight-to-dvd thriller Breakout in 2013, underwent a dramatic physical transformation to play the part of a reclusive English teacher, living with severe obesity, in Aronofsky’s film.
Following the film’s premiere this weekend, many are speculating that an Oscar nomination is imminent for Fraser. In fact, the film was so well-received that it earned a “six-minute standing ovation” at the premiere, which apparently left Fraser visibly emotional.

Florence Pugh will not be attending theDon’t Worry Darling press conference at the Venice International Film Festival.
The psychological thriller, which is directed by Olivia Wilde and sees Pugh star opposite Harry Styles, premieres at Venice on Monday (5 September).
The cast will be taking part in a press conference with Wilde, although Pugh will not be attending.
Variety confirmed that this is because the actor’s flight arrives into Venice after the press conference is due to take place. Pugh will, however, walk the red carpet for the event.
The news comes amid rumours of a feud between Pugh and her director, Wilde.
The reports intensified August after Wilde claimed that she fired Labeouf in 2020 in order to create a “safe, trusting environment” on set for Pugh.
However, Labeouf denied being fired and sent Variety a video he says he received from Wilde, which shows the director asking him not to quit the project.

Jordan Peterson has responded to Olivia Wilde who said the sinister character played by Chris Pine in her upcoming film Don’t Worry Darling was based on him.

Actor-turned-director Olivia Wilde's second feature film, "Don't Worry Darling," is heading to cinemas this month after a string of controversies. For the most part, the juicy details of the film's story have been a tightlipped secret, though its mysterious psychological thriller tone is a strong right turn from Wilde's confident and slick comedic solo debut, "Booksmart." Set in a 1950's inspired suburb, Florence Pugh plays Alice, who lives a dreamy, idyllic life with her husband Jack, played by Harry Styles. Alice's perception of reality falls apart as she slowly realizes her sunny town is not what it seems.
Amongst the supporting cast of this film is Chris Pine's character and main antagonist, Frank, the founder of this retro community he dubs the "Victory Project." In a conversation with Maggie Gyllenhaal for Interview Magazine, Wilde revealed that a source of inspiration for Pine's menacing character is Jordan Peterson,...

There’s been a lot of drama in the lead-up to the premiere of Olivia Wilde‘s “Don’t Worry Darling” at this year’s Venice Film Festival. Like Wilde’s drama with Shia Labeouf, who exited the film before production. Or Wilde’s drama with lead actress Florence Pugh, who has distanced herself from the movie before its release. All of this drama, drama, drama is too much; or, at least, it’s getting in the way of the movie itself, which, until recently, had a lot of positive buzz about it.

“For an artist who is from the UK and is fully aware of a living crisis Harry Styles is fully taking advantage of his popularity now with these ticket prices,” one wrote.
A second argued “this should be illegal”, claiming that Ticketmaster had nearly doubled the prices an hour after they had purchased them.
“Hey Harry, it’s not that Poland doesn’t want to buy your tickets,” another said. “It’s that we’re not gonna pay almost one month’s wage for a ticket because of the platinum pricing.

After a deluge of gossip and controversy outlined here in exhaustive detail — by only slightly exhausted Rolling Stone staffers — Olivia Wilde may have finally gotten her “female orgasm awareness press tour” for Don’t Worry Darling back on track with this fun new detail: Chris Pine’s character was inspired by Jordan Peterson.
In the film, Pine plays Frank, the founder of the mysterious “Victory Project,” which is behind the seemingly idyllic 1950s town where the main characters, Jack (Harry Styles) and Alice (Florence Pugh), live (Jack also works for Frank...

If Chris Pine’s character in “Don’t Worry Darling” seems a little familiar when it hits theaters later this month, there’s a reason why. According to director Olivia Wilde, the character is based on a real man: Jordan Peterson.
In a conversation released this week with Maggie Gyllenhaal for Interview Magazine, Wilde revealed that Frank, the leader of the Victory Project that the characters of “Don’t Worry Darling” are taking part in — knowingly or unknowingly — was directly inspired by the Canadian psychologist.
“We based that character on this insane man, Jordan Peterson, who is this pseudo-intellectual hero to the incel community,” Wilde explained.
During his time teaching at Harvard, Peterson was described as someone who was “willing to take on any research project, no matter how unconventional” — perhaps fitting for the premise of “Don’t Worry Darling” — and has previously said “disciplines like women’s studies should be defunded.”
