Last year, author Grady Hendrix contributed the 29 page short story Ankle Snatcher (you can read it Here) to the Amazon Original Stories Creature Feature collection, which also featured stories by Joe Hill, Josh Malerman, Paul Tremblay, Jason Mott, and Chandler Baker. Now, Deadline reports that Sony has acquired the rights to make a feature film adaptation of Ankle Snatcher.
Hendrix’s story follows Marcus, who grew up believing his father killed his mother — then blamed it on the boogeyman under the bed. Always leave the lights on, his father warned, or the boogeyman will get you. Marcus still heeds the superstition, especially when he invites his new girlfriend over. Is Marcus haunted by a creature or has he just inherited his father’s murderous delusions? The night will tell.
Hendrix will be producing the film alongside Escape Artist’ Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, and Tony Shaw, and Aperture Entertainment’s Adam Goldworm.

Music by Jimi Hendrix, Elvis Presley, Bob Marley, Janis Joplin, and more has been placed on the surface of the moon in an “arts-centric time capsule” by the Odysseus lunar lander.
Launched by SpaceX, Odysseus arrived on the moon’s surface along with the time capsule on Thursday, February 22nd. Consisting of a digitized archive of music, photos, artwork, and more, the time capsule supposedly offers a rough overview of the breadth of human culture, from fragments of ancient Sumerian music notation to paintings by Rembrandt and Van Gogh to beats by Timbaland and more.
Housed in a glass, nickel, and NanoFiche structure, the time capsule was engineered to last for millions of years, if not more. Thematically, the curators focused on works from 1969, in commemoration of the Apollo 11 landing and the Woodstock festival that occurred weeks later. Others of the 222 total artists featured include Marvin Gaye, Santana, Chuck Berry,...

Spoiler Alert: This article continues spoilers for the film “Drive-Away Dolls.”
In Ethan Coen’s “Drive-Away Dolls,” an homage to the colorful, brash world of exploitation cinema, there’s a notable cameo from none other than Miley Cyrus. Cyrus appears in a psychedelic swirl of flashbacks as Tiffany Plastercaster, seen titillating a college-aged version of Matt Damon’s character, who will come to be a conservative Senator in Florida. Plastercaster does as her name implies, crafting a replica dildo for the aspiring politician’s stimulated member.
It may sound far-fetched, but Cyrus’ cameo is inspired by Cynthia Plaster Caster — real name Cynthia Albritton — the artist and groupie who famously cast the genitals of musicians and others in plaster, from Jimi Hendrix to The Dead Kennedys’ Jello Biafra.
Albritton, who died in 2022, also cast female breasts in later years in an effort to even the playing field, with subjects including Karen O,...

Generative artificial intelligence is killing jobs in Hollywood, with little relief on the horizon.
A study surveying 300 leaders across the entertainment industry reports that three-fourths of respondents indicated that AI tools supported the elimination, reduction or consolidation of jobs at their companies. Over the next three years, it estimates that nearly 204,000 positions will be adversely affected.
At the forefront of the displacement: sound engineers, voice actors, concept artists and employees in entry-level positions, according to the study. Visual effects and other postproduction work stands particularly vulnerable.
The Concept Art Assn. and the Animation Guild commissioned the report, which was conducted from Nov. 17 to Dec. 22 by consulting firm Cvl Economics, amid concerns from members over the impact of AI on their work. Among the issues is that concept artists are increasingly being asked to “clean up” AI-generated works by studios, lowering their billed hours and the pool of available jobs, says Nicole Hendrix,...

Nell's reformation seemed too good to be true.
Unlike Days of Our Lives and other American soaps, Neighbours often resolves problems through communication and wraps up stories quickly. Still, it didn't seem likely that Nell would give up her entire campaign to break up Toadie and Terese after one conversation.
And on Neighbours during the week of 10-16-23, Toadie faces another threat to his marriage -- could that be part of a new plan of Nell's?
Spoilers say Terese will get a surprise gift that pushes her out of her comfort zone. It's hard to guess how that could have anything to do with Nell, but since Nell already tried to send that pig to Melanie, it's not outside the realm of possibility that she's behind this, too.
On the other hand, Paul's been spending much time with Terese. Could he be hoping for another chance, perhaps with some encouragement from Nell?...

The second season of Netflix’s original animated series, My Dad The Bounty Hunter, has been released, bringing us all of the planet-hopping, gun-slinging, alien-battling adventures of the Hendrix family. While the first installment focused on Sabo Brok, aka Terry’s bounty hunter shenanigans, the second season majorly revolves around the personal struggles of Terry’s alien wife, Tess, or, as we later get to know her, Princess Janeera.
Although the introspective route raises some vital questions, the narrative flow of this season is way too jam-packed with the presence of a number of themes and subplots, to the extent that the conclusion seems unnecessarily stretched into three episodes. In the previous season, we also witnessed how the Hendrix family stood against the corporate giant, Ehc, by destroying one of their operatives, the ruthless pursuer, Fixer. The Ehc returns this season with a few more nefarious schemes up their sleeve,...

Funnyman Kevin Hart really, really loves his kids. The "Die Hart" star is a proud father of four - Heaven, Hendrix, Kenzo, and Kaori. Kevin definitely keeps himself busy with his children, whom he clearly adores (judging by how frequently he raves about them on Instagram).
The comedian shares his two oldest kids with his ex-wife, Torrei Hart, and the former couple amicably co-parent these days despite their differences in the past. In a July 2022 episode of The Pivot Podcast, he admitted getting to a place where they could co-parent as friends was a challenge. "You get better," Kevin shared. "I can credit my ex-wife on growth. Myself too. It's not about us, right? There's a period where your fight blurs into the world of raising kids, and you gotta realize they had nothing to do with the sh*t that we had. The Isley Brothers were one of the first bands to put Jimi Hendrix on the map. They also ended a career dry spell the guitarist had been experiencing in 1963/64. Here’s how Hendrix’s audition went.
Jimi Hendirx’s audition for the Isley Brothers
After he moved to New York, Hendrix’s reputation reached the Isley Brothers. They were in need of a new backing guitarist and Hendrix seemed like he could possibly be just what they were looking for. So the band found Hendrix, contacted him, and invited him to audition at their home in Teaneck, New Jersey.
The youngest of the brothers, Ernie Isley, then-eleven and not yet in the group, recalled Hendrix’s audition:
“When he arrived, he said he couldn’t audition because his guitar was in the pawnshop,” he said, according to Wild Thing: The Short, Spellbinding Life of Jimi Hendrix by Philip Norman. “We got it out for him,...

Styx recorded their own version of The Beatles‘ “I Am the Walrus.” The band’s fans went wild for the cover. Subsequently, the tune inspired Styx to release an entire album of classic rock covers.
Styx covered The Beatles’ ‘I Am the Walrus’ at Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival
A 2006 article from The Morning Call revealed that Styx’s “I Am the Walrus” was born out of an appearance at Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival in 2004. “We had [singer] Lawrence [Gowan] do ‘I Am the Walrus,’ which I had heard him noodle on at a sound check maybe three or four years earlier,” Styx’s James Young recalled. “I mentioned it as a suggestion, then everybody started to embrace the idea.”
The crowd loved the performance. Because of that, Styx started regularly performing “I Am the Walrus” at shows. Greg Salk of the radio station Wlup offered to play the cover on his station.

Lithofayne (Faye) Pridgon was Jimi Hendrix’s original “Foxy Lady.” When they met, Pridgon was bold and flirtatious—characteristics that caused Hendrix to feel self-conscious once they were together. The famed guitarist even had rules for her to follow at night clubs.
Jimi Hendrix was devoted to and possessive of Faye Pridgon
Hendrix was certainly more devoted to Pridgon than many of his contemporaries were to their girlfriends. The guitarist had a habit of writing Pridgon “passionate, poetic love letters,” which she kept her entire life.
“He was also fiercely possessive and her naturally bold, flirtatious manner, which had first drawn them together, became unacceptable once they were a couple,” reads Wild Thing: The Short, Spellbinding Life of Jimi Hendrix by Philip Norman.
When Pridgon would join Hendrix at the clubs he’d play at, she was forbidden to dance with other men unless the song was uptempo and there was no body contact.

Jimi Hendrix met Lithofayne (Faye) Pridgon outside the Apollo theater. He was trying to get backstage to talk with Sam Cooke, who he thought could help his career. Hendrix and Pridgon took a quick liking to each other. Here’s how their whirlwind romance began.
Who was Faye Pridgon?
Pridgon was born in Dirty Spoon, Georgia. She was the daughter of a professional dancer and reportedly the illegitimate great granddaughter of Henry Ford, according to Wild Thing by Philip Norman. At 15 years old she had an affair with Little Willie John, who’s known for the song “Fever.” At 16, she was romantically connected to Same Cooke, which is how she got Hendrix backstage that night at the Apollo. It also didn’t hurt that she was best friends with Etta James.
When Hendrix met Pridgon, she was two years older than him. She wore a tight pegged skirt and higher-than-high heels.

Throughout the 1970s and early 1980s, Stevie Nicks thought she would follow in the footsteps of Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin. She held great admiration for both as musicians, but she also predicted that her drug use would eventually end her life. She said that, on some level, she wanted this to happen. Eventually, though, she realized that was not the path she wanted for herself.
Stevie Nicks once glamorized a lifestyle like Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin
After joining Fleetwood Mac, Nicks threw herself into a rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle. The group used so much cocaine that a sound engineer once joked that they’d snorted seven miles of it. Mick Fleetwood said it didn’t sound too far off to him.
“We could sit here and I go into some war story about snorting seven miles of cocaine,” he told The Sun. “I guess we figured we did X amount a day,...

Led Zeppelin was one of the best live bands of their era. Jimmy Page, John Bonham, John Paul Jones, and Robert Plant formed an exquisitely tight and talented group. Seeing Zep live was like torture for Queen’s Brian May because they set the bar so high. Woodstock remains one of the most iconic music festivals of all time.iSo why didn’t Led Zeppelin play at Woodstock? It seems like it would have been a match made in heaven, but Zep saying no was in line with their approach to everything else.
Led Zeppelin didn’t play at Woodstock because the bill was too crowded

In the classic rock era of the 1960s-1970s, many artists were not afraid to bash others publicly. Jimi Hendrix was somebody who never hesitated to share his brutally honest opinions. During one interview, Jimi Hendrix praised The Beatles and insulted The Monkees in the same quote.

Meredith Blake and Chessy are together once more! Et’s Denny Directo spoke to Lisa Ann Walter and Elaine Hendrix at the 2023 SAG Awards Sunday, where they shared how the epic “Parent Trap” reunion came to be.
“Well, I invited my date, but then my date flew, and it took her nineteen hours to get here because of the weather, and a little diversion to Vegas, three other planes that were made late and she got here,” the “Abbott Elementary” star explained.
“I got here, and I was determined,” Hendrix said about ensuring that she made it to the SAG Awards Sunday. “She asked me to be her date, I showed up as her date.”
Hendrix dressed the part too, rocking a fitted tuxedo. Walter, meanwhile, was in a black strapless gown that was the perfect match for the old Hollywood glam vibe the pair were serving on the red carpet.

Lisa Ann Walter, aka Melissa on "Abbott Elementary," had a different cast reunion on the SAG Awards red carpet on Feb. 26. Walter starred as Chessy in 1998's "The Parent Trap," and she brought her costar from that movie, Elaine Hendrix (aka the villainous Meredith) with her to the awards show. The duo laughed together as they posed on the carpet before the event. Walter wore a long flowing gown, while Hendrix opted for a classic tuxedo, accessorized with a sparkling clutch.
Walter and Hendrix have stayed friends since they filmed the movie, which turns 25 this summer. In 2021, they re-created one of their scenes together on social media, with Hendrix-as-Meredith ringing a tiny bell to call a fed-up Chessy. The duo opened up about their long-standing friendship in a 2019 interview with Vanity Fair. Walters said at the time, "Elaine is family. She knows all my kids, and we don't need anybody else.

The Beatles are the most covered band ever. While most of these covers struggle to reach the heights of the original, some are just as good as the original, and a few that surpass them. The Beatles have hundreds of classic songs to cover, and a few artists put their spin on them, which made the tracks even better.
The Beatles | Bettmann / Contributor Here are 5 covers of Beatles songs that are better than the original 1. ‘Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’ — Jimi Hendrix
In an interview with Stephen Colbert, Paul McCartney recalled seeing Jimi Hendrix perform this cover and called it one of the “great honors of my career.” Hendrix was a wizard on the guitar, and it shows in his cover of this Beatles track. While his vocal performance is more underplayed than John Lennon’s, his vocals and instrumentals give this song a grittier tone than before.

When The Byrds arrived in the UK for the first time in August 1965, they were hyped as the spearhead of an American Invasion. “The US Beatles!” headlines screamed as their lush cover of Bob Dylan’s “Mr Tambourine Man” topped the charts and their similarly titled debut album broke big on both sides of the pond.
Witnesses of their rammed half-hour show of multi-harmonied folk pop at London’s Flamingo Club were left unimpressed – “Flopsville!” declared Melody Maker – but in the end, the hype won out. Within two years The Byrds would stamp their mark on pop history, laying the foundations for folk rock with their renowned cover of Pete Seeger’s “Turn! Turn! Turn!” and their third album Fifth Dimension’s psychedelic mainstay “Eight Miles High”. And they contained at least one future musical icon in their midst. Zayn Malik has just dropped a new single that’s actually older than he is.
On Friday, Nov. 25, the “One Direction” alum released “Angel”, a collaboration of sorts featuring the late Jimi Hendrix.
“Angel” was first released on 1971’s “Cry of Love”, the first of countless posthumous albums released after the guitar virtuoso’s 1970 death.

The track proved to be a standout on “Cry of Love”, which compiled several unreleased tracks that Hendrix had been working on before he tragically died of a drug overdose at age 27.
The new version of “Angel” adds Malik’s newly recorded vocals to Hendrix’s distinctive guitar work, released to celebrate what would have been the late rock icon’s 80th birthday on Nov. 27.

When Shooter Jennings saw his friend Brandi Carlile put together a tribute set to Joni Mitchell at this year’s Newport Folk Festival, it got the Grammy-winning producer thinking about, perhaps, organizing a similar project of his own.
“I got offered this festival, and I just didn’t want to have it be me coming in to play a regular set. I don’t have a [new] record,” Jennings tells Rolling Stone backstage at the inaugural Rebels & Renegades festival, held this weekend in Monterey, California. “So I was trying to think of something to do,...

As "Jennifer's Body" scribe Diablo Cody once wrote, "Hell is a teenage girl." So much happens at that hectic age — bodies rapidly grow into self-aware and self-consciousness beings exploring sexuality, identities, and a desire for autonomy. All of this unfolds as teens are acutely aware of how socially acceptable they are and to whom. I remember how acne felt like a death sentence. For teens, knowing who to speak to, and when, is vital — a stealth mission in navigating the murky waters of popularity. Make the wrong move, and you've sunk your battleship, along with any hope of having weekend plans. Social rejection felt like a powerfully fatal curse.

The year is 1988 and the United States is in the throes of the Satanic Panic. High school sophomores Abby and Gretchen have been best friends since fourth grade.
Author Gary Hendrix described his 2016 book My Best Friend’s Exorcism as “Beaches meets The Exorcist.” The movie adaptation from Amazon Prime, like the book, is a snarl of teen dramedy, horror, and plenty of winking ‘80s caricature, but it lacks some of the sharp character and nostalgic charm of the original novel. The film really tries its best, but ultimately collapses from exhaustion as it is unsure of its stature between satire and scares. It gets the closest when poking fun at the conservative Christian values that fueled the Satanic Panic movement, but overall the movie is a light teen satire with a horror wrapper.

Stronger in concept than execution, “My Best Friend’s Exorcism” is, as fans of Grady Hendrix’s YA source novel already know, studded with entertaining ideas. But while there’s certainly enough talent involved, the film adaptation can’t seem to coalesce around the cleverness and insight that made Hendrix’s book a bestseller.
Though this is the first feature from director Damon Thomas, he’s had plenty of experience in sharp, female-focused screen horror, as a director and executive producer of “Killing Eve” and “Penny Dreadful.” The same goes for writer Jenna Lamia, making her movie debut after working on shows like “Awkward” and “Good Girls.”
There’s also the unfulfilled promise of lead Elsie Fisher (“Eighth Grade”), who is — through no fault of her own — miscast and misdirected as Abby, a self-conscious high school sophomore in 1988. Abby, who is alienated enough already, is broken-hearted about the fact that her...

Masaaki Yuasa’s showstopping animation reframes the classical performance style as a world of rock gods and cavorting dancers
Anime maverick Masaaki Yuasa’s 14th-century rock opera gets off to the most traditional start possible with some stark Noh-style declaiming. But things quickly get pretty wild: Hendrix-ish behind-the-head lute shredding, phantom samurai breakdancing, giant whale lightshows. Retrofitting medieval Noh as a world of guitar gods and cavorting dancers, Inu-oh has its two disabled lead characters make a psychedelic plea in favour of slipping loose from dominant narratives, told in a fecund patchwork of styles by Yuasa that asserts its own outsider credentials.
Tomona (Mirai Moriyama) and Inu-oh (trans musician Avu-chan) are the Keith Richards and Mick Jagger of Muromachi-era Kyoto. The first is a biwa player who, in the film’s opening section, is blinded by a mystical sword lost in a battle between two clans wrestling over the shogunate two centuries earlier.
