Does anyone know what Whitley's real motive is?
Sometimes she seems like a nurse who doesn't mind bending the rules to help people, and other times she's a mob boss, blackmailing those she helped into doing her bidding. Still, other times, she seems like a love-obsessed loon, more like Kathy Bates' character in Misery than anything else.
And on Days of Our Lives during the week of 6-19-23, Whtiley's thoughts took a dark turn after Eli revealed he was onto her.
Will Whitley kill Abe? It's not likely.
That would be an awful ending to this story. Plus, we've been down the route of Abe being presumed dead, only to turn up alive again, back in 2008 when he was stuck on Melaswen with half the veteran actors.

But I buy entirely that Whitley will fake Abe's death.

Tom Swift is not long for this world.
The CW is pulling the plug on the Nancy Drew spinoff a month into its run.
Deadline broke the news Thursday, confirming that the network will air the entirety of the season.
The series got off to a mediocre start in the ratings in May, and is averaging around 500,000 viewers with a week of DVR factored in.
In any other season, those numbers might have been enough for The CW to keep the show around.
However, these are difficult times for the network.
Warner Bros. Discovery and Paramount are exploring a sale, with recent supports suggesting Nexstar could be in line to purchase 75.
The CW canceled beloved dramas, Legends of Tomorrow, Legacies, Charmed, Dynasty, Roswell, New Mexico, In the Dark, Naomi, and Batwoman.

“Tom Swift” has been canceled by The CW after one season, Variety has confirmed.
The news comes less than a month after the series, a spinoff of “Nancy Drew,” premiered on May 31. Sources close to the project tell Variety the decision came down to ratings, as the show failed to find an audience via linear TV or streaming. The five episodes of the series that have aired so far drew 0.1 ratings in the 18-49 demographic.
The news also comes a little over a month after The CW canceled a sizable amount of their originals, including “Charmed,” “Dynasty,” “Rosewell, New Mexico,” “4400,” “Legacies,” “Naomi” and “Batwoman.” In January, it was announced that Nexstar Media Group is in negotiations with the channel to acquire a sizable stake in it, after years of being predominantly owned by WarnerMedia.

The CW’s “Nancy Drew” spin-off “Tom Swift” has been canceled at the network after one season. The CBS Studios show, which premiered May 31, will finish its Season 1 run but will not be returning to the broadcast network, TheWrap has confirmed.
While the cancellation comes amid poor viewership numbers and is one of the network’s lowest-rated series on linear and digital, “Tom Swift” is the latest in a long line of shows to be axed by the network, which canceled such programs like the popular “Legacies,” “Batwoman” and “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.”
The wave of cancellations comes amid the CW’s looming sale as parent companies Paramount Global and Warner Bros. Discovery plan to divest from the joint venture and focus on bringing their best series in-house to their respective streaming services nationally and internationally. CEO Mark Pedowitz said in a conference call with reporters in May that “none of these were easy decisions.

The CW’s wave of series cancellations is continuing into the summer.
The network has pulled the plug on its Nancy Drew spinoff Tom Swift after a single season. The CBS Studios series, which premiered on May 31, will play out the remainder of its order but won’t return to the broadcast network.
Tom Swift is the 11th series The CW has canceled in the 2021-22 season, the most it has cut in a decade. The surge in cancellations comes as the network’s owners, Warner Bros. Discovery and Paramount Global, are looking to sell the Mark Pedowitz-led broadcaster; local TV giant Nexstar, which owns a number of CW affiliates, is the leading candidate and, per a Wall Street Journal report this week, will take a 75 percent stake in the network, with Wbd and Paramount retaining 12.5 percent each.

The CW has given a straight-to-series order to Tom Swift, based on the classic book series Tom Swift, with a twist, for the 2021-22 season. Tom Swift comes from Nancy Drew co-creators/executive producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, their Fake Empire banner and CBS Studios.
Tom Swift, a spinoff of Nancy Drew, was one of two projects that had remained in contention after the network had made decisions on the bulk of its six 2021 pilots, handing series orders only to Naomi and All American: Homecoming in May.
The CBS Studios/Fake Empire-produced project did not do a traditional backdoor pilot; instead the character Tom Swift, played by Tian Richards, appeared in a Nancy Drew episode titled “The Celestial Visitor,” which was directed by Ruben Garcia, and the network also ordered a pilot script.

“Tom Swift” has been ordered to series at The CW, Variety has learned.
The show is a spinoff of the CW series “Nancy Drew.” Tian Richards made his first appearance as the character in the “Nancy Drew” episode “The Celestial Visitor” during that show’s second season. It served as a backdoor pilot to the “Tom Swift” standalone series. The new show will debut during the 2021-2022 broadcast season, but no official premiere date has been set at this time.
“Tom Swift” follows the serialized adventures of the titular Black, gay, billionaire inventor, who is thrust into a world of sci-fi conspiracy and unexplained phenomena after the shocking disappearance of his father. Tom takes to the road on a quest to unravel the truth, leaving behind the comforts of his usual moneyed lifestyle, all while fighting to stay one step ahead of an Illuminati-scale group hell-bent on stopping him.

Netflix acknowledged Wednesday that choice can sometimes be too much of a good thing as the world’s biggest streamer officially unveiled a new user option called Play Something — where “Netflix does all the work for you.”

Following the continued success of its “Arrowverse,” the CW is looking to establish a new line of series: the “Drew-niverse.”
The network is developing a spinoff from its “Nancy Drew” mystery drama called “Tom Swift,” Variety has learned. Like “Nancy Drew,” the prospective show is inspired by the Stratemeyer Syndicate series of novels.
CW’s plan is for the Swift character to appear in an episode of the upcoming second season of “Nancy Drew,” with the potential for a back-door pilot off the back of that. A pilot script is already in the works, according to sources. “Nancy Drew” bosses Melinda Hsu Taylor and Noga Landau co-created this new series with Cameron Johnson of Fake Empire, which also produces the original show.

It was a winning game from the start for the Phoenix Suns. On Tuesday, Aug. 11, the Arizona basketball team victoriously faced off against the Philadelphia 76ers, but before the game got underway, the players got an ultra sweet surprise from their families back home. Considering they've been in the NBA "bubble" in Orlando, Fla. for about a month now amid the coronavirus pandemic, the athletes got a special reminder of their loved ones when they popped up in pre-taped clips to enthusiastically announce the starting lineup for Tuesday's game, which included Cameron Johnson, Deandre Ayton, Mikal Bridges and Ricky Rubio. Shooting guard Devin...

In the wrong hands, cliches are about the worst thing that can populate a film. Handled poorly, they just remind you all that can be wrong about cinema. However, cliches became that way for a reason, and are popular with some degree of cause. So, when filmmakers can lean in and utilize cliched material for their own means, sometimes you wind up with a fun result. Star Light is just such a beast, wandering down a well worn path but occasionally doing it in a way that we haven’t seen before, allowing it to stand out from the pack. Out now, it’s an option to consider for genre hounds. The movie is a mix of horror and science fiction, with a bit of an original hook. Here, we have the story of a group of teenagers fighting off a strange entity and protecting a mysterious woman, but the...

"You are not safe with her in there..." 1091 Media has revealed an official trailer for an indie horror titled Star Light, a twisted little film directed by filmmakers Mitchell Altieri & Lee Cummings. A kind-hearted teen's life is turned upside down when he helps a world famous pop star on the run try to escape her violent pursuers. He ends up hiding out with her at a friend's house, turning a fun graduation party into a night of living hell. Starring Cameron Johnson as Dylan & Scout Taylor-Compton as Bebe A. Love; also joined by Rahart Adams, Liana Ramirez, Garrett Westton, Chandler Rachelle, Hagen Mills, Tiffany Shepis, Kevin Jiggetts, and Bret Roberts. This looks like it has a crazy twist where it turns out the pop star is some kind of creature. Maybe a werewolf or something else? I wonder if this is going to turn out to be a horror...

Netflix said Monday it is expanding the rollout of a Top 10 listing that will show its subscribers the 10 most-watched titles each day on the streaming giant.
The service said in a blog post that it had been experimenting with the lists recently in Mexico and the UK, and is now rolling it out in the U.S. and globally. “Members in both countries have found them useful, so we are now rolling them out to even more,” wrote Cameron Johnson, Director of Product Innovation.
The lists, which launched today, appear as a newly designed row of ranked titles — overall as well as separately for film and television on the Movies and TV tabs. Netflix, which has been notoriously private with its viewer data, said the lists will be updated every day, and the position of the row will vary depending on how relevant the shows and films are to the user.

Netflix have introduced various improvements to their streaming platform over the years, from the ‘My List’ to making it easier to find content that’s recently been added to the service. Indeed, as anyone who regularly uses Netflix will know, its algorithms make the browsing experience very different for every user. We’re now getting a way to see which material is the most popular for your country though, thanks to a Netflix Top 10 feature giving the daily ranking of series and movies.
As this ranking will be updated every day, the relevance of whatever’s on it will also change in prominence for individual subscribers, who’ll be able to see shows, films, and overall content. In addition, anything that ends up on the lists will receive a Top 10 badge to make it easier to spot popular programs and films in your region. The initiative is one that’s been trialed in several countries,...

In a competitive situation, Fox has given a put pilot commitment to Diversity Hire, a provocative single-camera workplace comedy from the Empire duo of Cameron Johnson and Felicia D. Henderson, producer Darryl Taja (The Perfect Guy) and Empire studio 20th Century Fox TV, where Henderson is under an overall deal.
Written by Johnson, Diversity Hire is described as an irreverent workplace half-hour that will comedically explore our beliefs about race, class, and gender, while pushing the boundaries of political correctness. The show centers on Zenzi Baker, a brilliant, young, African-American, programmer whose life is turned upside down when her boss embroils his successful tech company in a publicity nightmare. To save face, Zenzi, a low-level coder, is plucked from obscurity and promoted to chief diversity and inclusion officer. Her primary qualification? She’s “diverse.”

Netflix has found a way to help free up space on your phone and let you keep binge-watching its content, all at the same time. Oh, sorry, not you, iPhone users.
On Tuesday, the streaming service announced the launch of its new Smart Downloads app feature, which will delete an episode once you’ve finished it and automatically download the next one.
That handy update will save you from having to manually add and remove files from your device. But it’s currently only available to Android users. Netflix did not immediately respond to TheWrap’s request for comment on if and when it will reach iPhones and iPads.

After making it possible for subscribers to download content in 2016, Netflix is making its download feature “smarter” and more binge-friendly.
The new “Smart Downloads” setup, announced today in a blog post, will automatically delete episodes that are viewed and then download the next episode once you are connected to WiFi. The feature will only be available initially on Android phones and tablets, and is focused on episodic series, not movies or specials.
“You watch, we do the work,” summed up the post, which is attributed to Cameron Johnson, Director of Product Innovation. “We know how annoying it can be to go through all your apps and delete files you no longer need; we also understand that when it comes to Netflix, the faster you can get to the next episode you want to watch, the better.”

Netflix, a year and a half after rolling out the ability to download content for offline viewing on mobile devices, is now adding a feature that should have been there from the get-go: a new “Smart Downloads” that automatically deletes an episode of a TV series you’ve finished watching and fetches the next one.
However, it’s first available only on Android devices. Users of Netflix’s Apple iOS apps will have to wait a few more months to get Smart Downloads.
“Whenever possible, we want Netflix to do the work for you,” said Cameron Johnson, director of product innovation at Netflix. “Today, downloads is a manual process — you have to download [TV episodes] one at a time, then delete them.”
With Smart Downloads, the Netflix app will detect when a user has watched an episode, then remove it from the device and automatically add the next episode. Users can have...

Netflix is taking a page from social networks with a new feature that will let users watch TV and movie previews in vertical-video orientation on their mobile phones.
The 30-second mobile previews are presented in a slideshow format with circular thumbnails, very much like the presentation of Snapchat and Instagram Stories. As with the popular “stories” video format, users can tap the screen to play the preview or swipe to advance to the next preview. If you see something you like, you can add it to your watchlist directly from the video screen.
The mobile previews are available starting Thursday in Netflix’s iOS app, and will be “coming soon to Android,” the company said.
The point? It’s another addition to Netflix’s content-discovery toolkit, designed to suck viewers into the Netflix programming catalog. Astutely, Netflix is adopting the concept of swipe-able, vertical videos, which presumably many people already know how to interact with.
