Agatha first appeared in the Disney+ series ‘WandaVision’ as a nosy neighbor who turns out to be a powerful witch wanting to take Wanda’s powers. At the show’s end, she’s defeated and left powerless, stuck in her neighbor persona, setting up her story for the new series. Agatha has a rich history in the comics as a powerful magic user, which ties her to Wanda.
The character became popular in her live-action form, leading Marvel Studios to start working on a dark comedy spin-off centered on Kathryn Hahn’s portrayal in October 2021.
Hahn’s role was part of a larger deal with Marvel Studios, leading to the series being announced as ‘Agatha: House of Harkness’ during Disney+ Day in November 2021. The title changed to ‘Agatha: Coven of Chaos’ in July 2022, and then to ‘Agatha: Darkhold Diaries’ in September 2023. According to the official Disney+ site, the show will...

Agatha debuted in the Disney+ series ‘WandaWision,’ as the nosy neighbour-turned-powerful witch who tried to steal Wanda’s powers. By the end of the show, Agatha is defeated and trapped in her noisy neighbor persona, left powerless, which will obviously translate to the first episode of the show. The two characters share a connection from the comics, with Agatha being one of the most powerful magic users in the Marvel Comics Universe.
The fans took a liking to the live-action version of the character, and by October 2021, Marvel Studios began developing a dark comedy spin-off from ‘WandaVision’ focused on Kathryn Hahn’s character.
Hahn’s involvement was part of a broader deal with Marvel Studios, and the series was officially announced as ‘Agatha: House of Harkness’ during the Disney+ Day event in November 2021. Avatar: The Last Airbender, Netflix’s latest live-action series has finally ended with eight episodes. The series seems to have gone as quickly as it came, building up anticipation and leaving with a somewhat disappointed tone. While reviews have been mixed, fans have nonetheless appreciated it since it hasn’t thankfully repeated the disaster that The Last Airbender (movie) was.

I can’t say that Netflix’s adaptation of Nickelodeon’s acclaimed animated series has done a very good job at retelling the story. If I’m being honest, we all saw this coming; the only time a live-action adaptation actually did a decent job was when Netflix released their adaptation of One Piece. Either way, Avatar: The Last Airbender still managed to remind us of the importance of these characters. I feel the original work was entirely out of this world. Not only did it show us the horrors of war, but also the importance of nature and balance in this world. Who would’ve thought that the series could tell us so much about our own world through its playful nature and its characters? The live-action adaptation does, however, portray themes that are quite important for this generation to remember lately. Princess Yue is one such character who...

Joe Locke, the breakout star of “Heartstopper,” has always had dreams of being on Broadway. Now, at just 20 years old, the British actor has made his Broadway debut as Tobias Ragg in the Tony-nominated revival of “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.”
After his first performance in late January, he posted photos and video of himself from the show with the caption, “Little Joe would be happy rn.” His “Heartstopper” co-star Kit Connor and music superstar Olivia Rodrigo were among those who messaged their congratulations in the comment section.
“It’s very pinch-me all the time, which is great,” Locke says on this week’s episode of the “Just for Variety” podcast. “But every night I’m like, ‘What am I doing?’ – in the best way.”
Locke acted in amateur stage productions until he was about 15 in an old Victorian theater in his native Isle of Man. “The...

The cast also includes Aubrey Plaza, Patti LuPone and Caulfield Ford (reprising the role of Dottie from “WandaVision”).
“I remember Kevin [Feige] saying to me, ‘We really should think about an actual Agatha show,’ and I was like, ‘Where do I sign for that job?’” the spinoff’s head writer and executive producer Jac Schaeffer says in the teaser below. Schaeffer had those same roles on “Wandavision” and also co-wrote the 2021 Marvel movie “Black Widow.”

Kathryn Hahn is reprising her role of Agatha Harkness in Agatha: Darkhold Diaries on Disney+.
With the Blu-Ray release of WandaVision, Marvel Studios snuck a little preview of the spinoff where Hahn and creators tease the making of the series.
Jac Schaeffer, head writer and executive producer, said she talked to Marvel about developing something else and revealed that everything that she pitched “included a storyline about Agatha.”
“I remember Kevin [Feige] saying to me, ‘We really should think about an actual Agatha show,’ and I was like, ‘Where do I sign for that job?'” Schaeffer recalled.
“The character is so deep and heartfelt and dangerous,” co-executive producer Mary Livanos said. “Continuing the story of Agatha and getting to know her more was immediately an imperative for us as creatives. There would be nothing more delicious to Agatha Harkness than to be in a spinoff.”

Kathryn Hahn's Agatha Harkness had a scene that was removed from WandaVision's season finale on Disney+.
Giving fans a taste of her magical abilities in the McU's first Phase 4 project, Agatha and Wanda Maximoff finally went toe-to-toe with one another in WandaVision's final episode before her tragic defeat.
But after Elizabeth Olsen's powerful leading character got the best of Hahn's antagonist, Agatha was confined to Wanda's Hex-influenced Westview for the foreseeable future - complete with the '90s-set sitcom reality.

The Morning Show wrapped its third season Nov. 8 — a moment showrunner and executive producer Charlotte Stoudt admits was an emotional one for members of the creative team, who gathered to watch the season finale at Hollywood’s Linwood Dunn Theater. “It’s really thrilling to watch the show with an audience,” said Stoudt. “It’s not the finale until people see it. I’m all choked up.”
Stoudt — who boarded the Apple TV+ drama starring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon as anchors Alex Levy and Bradley Jackson, respectively, for its most recent season — was joined after the screening by nine of the show’s executive producers and artisans to reflect on pushing the show’s characters into more vulnerable territory and the joys of working with the talented A-list actors they have at their disposal.

Numerous productions across the industry were affected by the recent strikes, and MCU productions were affected as well, some projects more so than others. And looking at the upcoming slate of projects, two of them stand out as having the most rocky productions imaginable. One of the biggest box office surprises in 2013 was the comedy film "We're the Millers," which featured Jason Sudeikis, Jennifer Aniston, Emma Roberts, and Will Poulter as a ragtag group of amateur drug smugglers posing as a family in the hopes of bringing home a massive payday. The road trip comedy was a huge financial success and is considered by many to be one of the very best films of Sudeikis' career. Directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber ("Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story"), the film also features a knock-out supporting cast including Nick Offerman, Kathryn Hahn, Ed Helms, Molly Quinn, Luis Guzman, Thomas Lennon, Ken Marino, Tomer Sisley, Matthew Willig, and the feature film debut of Sam Richardson.

How do people watch their favorite TV shows? Using a cable provider? Bought season by season direct on demand? Switching on whichever streaming service has it at the moment? Well, on TikTok, one of the most popular ways to consume media right now is watching episodes broken up into dozens of three-minute snippets. And the format is not just bringing these series back into the zeitgeist — it’s also helping streamers get around the promotion ban during the ongoing writers and actors strikes.

[This story contains spoilers from the first two episodes of The Morning Show season three, “The Kármán Line” and “Ghost in the Machine.”]
In the first episode of The Morning Show‘s return, Jennifer Aniston’s character’s hot take on the new tech titan played by Jon Hamm is that he’s a “need-for-speed, hardass from Silicon Valley.” Top Uba news anchor Alex Levy (played by Aniston) gets to meet the Apple TV+ media drama’s curious new character as she preps for him to launch her into space. The billionaire, named Paul Marks (Hamm), has recruited her for the maiden voyage of his Hyperion One suborbital rocket, which will mark his entry into the spaceflight race.
The audience is sure to have a similar hot take on Paul Marks, who invokes Elon Musk comparisons after the two-episode premiere. “Paul Marks is a character who is an amalgam of a lot of different individuals,” however, executive producer Lauren Neustadter tells The Hollywood Reporter.

The upcoming Disney+ MCU series ‘Agatha: Darkhold Diaries’ is still roughly a year away after the latest round of delays, but it has already become unique for something that never happened in the history of the MCU. When the series was first announced in 2021, the official title was ‘Agatha: House of Harkness.’ However, at last year’s San Diego Comic-Con, Kevin Feige revealed a new title: ‘Agatha: Coven of Chaos,’ and the series was recently retitled again to ‘Agatha: Darkhold Diaries.’
This isn’t the first time that Marvel Studios changed the title of already announced projects; ‘The Marvels,’ which is set to open in theaters this November, was initially announced simply as ‘Captain Marvel 2,’ and the fourth ‘Captain America’ movie was officially announced last year as ‘Captain America: New World Order,’ before the title was changed earlier this year to ‘Captain America: Brave New World.’ However, it never happened...

With Disney and Marvel's big screen release plans already in flux thanks to the ongoing obstinance of the studios to make a fair deal with writers and actors, the fallout is affecting the small screen schedule also. Shows such as Hawkeye spin-off Echo, the WandaVision follow-up off focused on Kathryn Hahn's Agatha Harkness and Season 2 of What If…? are among those on the move.
Some of the changes are relatively minor — the second season of What If…?, which had originally targeted an earlier 2023 release, is moving to December.
Hawkeye spin-off Echo, based around Alaqua Cox's deaf Native American character, is shifting from November to January, while X-Men '97', a revival of the 1990s animated show, will fly from this autumn to early next year.

Uh-oh… has someone put a hex on Disney+’s Agatha-centered WandaVision spinoff?
The spinoff, with Kathryn Hahn reprising her WandaVision role as the witchy villainess, was originally supposed to debut later this year, but it has now been delayed until early fall 2024, timed to the Halloween season, according to The Hollywood Reporter. (A source has confirmed the news to TVLine.) For those of you who are keeping score at home, it’s also now on its third title: Agatha: Darkhold Diaries, replacing the previous title Agatha: Coven of Chaos, which in turn replaced the original Agatha: House of Harkness.

Within the past four years alone, the success rate for Best TV Movie/Limited Series Actress Emmy nominees who have entered their ceremonies with same-year SAG Award wins under their belts has dropped from 100% to 60%. After being followed by Anya Taylor-Joy (“The Queen’s Gambit”) in 2021, win-lose trendsetter Patricia Arquette might soon be joined by 2023 SAG Award recipient Jessica Chastain (“George & Tammy”), whose Gold Derby Emmy odds are significantly lower than those of her strongest challenger, Ali Wong (“Beef”).
Chastain and Wong represent half of their Emmy lineup’s first-time acting nominee majority, which also includes Dominique Fishback (“Swarm”) and Riley Keough (“Daisy Jones & the Six”). Rounding out the group, which features no former Emmy champions, are category newcomers Lizzy Caplan (“Fleishman is in Trouble”) and Kathryn Hahn (“Tiny Beautiful Things”).
In order to determine the likelihood of Chastain perpetuating said unfortunate trend, let’s take a closer look at each nominee.

This story about Hulu’s “Tiny Beautiful Things” first appeared in the Down to the Wire: Drama and Limited Series issue of TheWrap’s awards magazine and was conducted before the SAG-AFTRA strike.
The messiness of her Emmy-nominated role of Clare Pierce was part of what attracted Kathryn Hahn to “Tiny Beautiful Things,” the eight-episode drama series that was adapted from Cheryl Strayed’s 2012 novel based on her own experiences taking over an anonymous advice column in a literary magazine.
The series, created by Liz Tigelaar for ABC Signature, Hulu and Hello Sunshine, braids together Clare’s adult, teenage and childhood timelines, sketching a portrait of a woman in her 40s who is at loose ends after a painful divorce, but also flashing back to her younger self abandoning her dreams of becoming a writer in the aftermath of a traumatic childhood and the loss of her mother to cancer.

Jennifer Aniston is “so over cancel culture,” the “Morning Show” actor said in a new cover story for Wall Street Journal Magazine.
“I probably just got canceled by saying that,” Aniston continued. “I just don’t understand what it means.… Is there no redemption? I don’t know. I don’t put everybody in the Harvey Weinstein basket.”
Aniston went on to say that while she was not personally harassed by Weinstein, she did not have pleasant experiences with the disgraced Hollywood producer. Weinstein is currently serving 39 years in prison, having been convicted in both New York and Los Angeles for rape and sexual assault.
“He’s not a guy, you’re like, ‘God, I can’t wait to hang out with Harvey.’ Never. You were actually like, ‘Oh, God, Ok, suck it up.’ I remember actually, he came to visit me on a movie to pitch me a movie.

Kathryn Hahn excels at playing women without boundaries. From the moment in “Step Brothers” that she mounted John C. Reilly in the men’s room and then proceeded to urinate standing up, Hahn won our hearts playing characters who speak their unfiltered minds — and performed an impressive amount of gymnastic sex scenes in the process. She’s been brazen, promiscuous, violent and drunk — and audiences have loved every moment of it. She even got away with the worst thing a character can do — killing a dog — in “WandaVision.”
“You really hope those scenes are early on,” says Hahn about overcoming inhibitions. She points to a moment in Tamara Jenkins’ “Private Lives” in which her character is cleaning her home while naked from the waist down. She then gets in a heated argument with her husband, played by Paul Giamatti. “I was very glad that we got that over with before...

As much as we like to try and predict the key Emmy races, some categories are more tough to figure out — and therefore, more interesting — than others. Outstanding drama series? Shhh, I think we have a pretty good hunch what’s going to win. This year’s acting categories have some obvious favorites. However, I would not be surprised by almost anything — particularly as performers have stopped campaigning in the wake of the SAG/AFTRA strike.
One of my favorite categories this year, however, is lead actress in a limited or anthology series or movie. And here’s the top reason: This is the only acting category this year that features not a single previous Emmy winner among its nominees. As a matter of fact, half of them have never been nominated at all. Other categories come close. But lead actress in limited/anthology/movie is the only category where I can,...

Nominations for the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards were announced July 12 by Yvette Nicole Brown, and the overlapping section of the Venn diagram featuring Marvel Cinematic Universe actors and Emmy nominees grew a little bit larger, just like it has every year since Kevin Feige created his own onscreen playground.
Half of the new additions come from FX’s critically acclaimed series “The Bear.” Stars Ayo Edebiri, Jon Bernthal and Ebon Moss-Bachrach all snagged their first Emmy nominations for their work on the culinary-themed show. Edebiri, who will appear in 2024’s “Thunderbolts,” received a Best Comedy Supporting Actress nom, while Bernthal and Moss-Bachrach, who co-starred in the first season of Marvel’s “The Punisher,” earned bids for Best Comedy Guest Actor and Best Comedy Supporting Actor, respectively.
Elsewhere, “Guardians of the Galaxy” star Elizabeth Debicki was nominated for her performance as Princess Diana on Netflix’s “The Crown,” Steven Yeun, who will join Edebiri in “Thunderbolts,...

Working on the story, which examines grief and family close-up, has left Hahn “forever changed” she said on Tuesday morning, shortly after receiving an Emmy nomination for her role.
However, as SAG-AFTRA talks continue, with a possible actors’ strike on the horizon in addition to the ongoing writers’ strike, Hahn said, “Everything feels very bittersweet, doesn’t it?” She recalled her love for the writers’ room on Tiny Beautiful Things and writer-EPs Liz Tigelaar and Cheryl Strayed, adding, “You know, no matter what, we’re all 100 percent behind the writers, and I am filled with gratitude. And we’ll continue to shout their names since they are unable to for a bit.”
And as for whether there will be a Season 2 of the limited series, Hahn said,...
