Before Jensen Ackles surprised the world with the most fantastic performance as Soldier Boy in The Boys, fans wanted the actor to take on a live-action superhero role. While the Supernatural star isn’t new to playing a superhero, especially since his role as the Caped Crusader in the DC Animated Universe. However, one role had rumors going about left and right.

It has been a long time since we have heard anything about The Boys as the actors got busy shooting season 4 of the iconic Amazon series. Based on anti-heroes and their fight against humans, the series is quite bloody, gory, and, spectacular.
Antony Starr as Homelander in The Boys (2019-)
It was season 3 when Jensen Ackles made his entrance as Soldier Boy in the Amazon Original series. With his character being the father of Homelander, and The Boys using Soldier Boy’s power to kill the supes, a brilliant theory has emerged about the future of supes and the survival of humans!
Soldier Boy Will Be The End of The Boys?
With numerous gory deaths that have been showcased in the series (remember Herogasm?) the world of The Boys is not for everyone. Having a stellar cast of Jensen Ackles, Antony Starr, and, Karl Urban alongside several others, The Boys is something unique.

Anyone who has seen even a single episode of Prime Video’s The Boys will tell you that Homelander is absolutely crazy, and not in a good way. You wouldn’t want to cross paths with the superhero, who is anything but a hero. From leaving Flight 37 to crash to outing Queen Maeve on live television, Homelander has done some pretty messed up things.

One of the worst things the supe has done, though, is killing off his own teammate and friend, Black Noir, for withholding information from him. However, the fourth season’s trailer came with a surprising twist as you could clearly see that Black Noir was back from the dead. Now the question is, was the man inside the suit replaced, or did Stan Edgar bring him back to fulfill his mission as seen in the comics?

The trailer of season 4 of The Boys saw many surprises, including a return from Black Noir. The iconic character was killed at the end of season 3 by the Homelander for not telling him about his father. However, the new season sees the silent, masked hero returning to fight Billy the Butcher and the gang in an action-packed scene.
The trailer sees a hand-to-hand combat between Butcher and Black Noir at an office. While fans were excited to see Black Noir returning, they were greeted with an appearance from Gen V’s Asa Germann, who plays Sam Riordan. This sparked a fan theory that Riordan would don the Black Noir suit in the upcoming season.

If you've been wondering when we'll meet the mysterious, potentially deadly old brother of our favorite reward-seeker, Colter Shaw, you are in Big-time luck.
News dropped officially via Justin Hartley's Ig page that Jensen Ackles -- yes, That Jensen Ackles -- would be joining Tracker as Russell Shaw. And the internet is going Wild.
Why are they going crazy, exactly? Because Justin Hartley and Jensen Ackles teaming up in an action-adventure series as brothers is just about the most perfect casting I've seen in a while.
And it goes far beyond the fact that they could actually pass for long-lost siblings.
Colter's journey throughout Tracker Season 1 has taken him across the United States, where he's helped countless people track down missing loved ones and even those who weren't necessarily looking to be found.
But while he's been racing around, saving the day and collecting his paychecks, he hasn't been able to outrun his past.

Could another Supernatural reunion be coming to Prime Video‘s hit series The Boys? According to former star Jared Padalecki, the future for such a possibility seems bright. The actor expressed interest in a potential cameo on the superhero dramedy helmed by Supernatural‘s Eric Kripke. In an interview with Collider, Padalecki said of Kripke, “Yeah, he has reached out to me.” Sergei Bachlakov/Warner Bros./Everett Collection As viewers of The Boys already know, Kripke hasn’t been afraid to cast stars from Supernatural. Padalecki’s onscreen brother Jensen Ackles joined the mix as Soldier Boy in Season 3. Meanwhile, Alexander Calvert made an appearance in spinoff Gen V, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan is slated to play a prominent role in Season 4. While Padalecki is open to the idea of joining the universe, he’s hesitant for now, as he told Collider, “My response to him 90 percent of the time is,...

The Boys are back! Well, almost.
The Boys Season 4 will premiere on June 13, bringing back all the blood, gore, and drama we've come to expect from our anti-superheroes.
When we last saw them, The Boys -- and the world -- were in chaos.
Billy Butcher was terminally ill from using too much V24 to gain temporary superpowers, Soldier Boy was being held by the government, and Homelander had reconciled with his son Ryan.
For Season 4, we're hoping for answers. And a miracle that keeps Butcher alive.
But we'd also love to learn a little more about some of the characters we love or the ones we love to hate.
Here are some The Boys characters who deserve their own spotlight episode so we can get to know them better.
Hughie Campbell
Okay, hear us out. We know Hughie is a main character and the show has followed him from day one.

Prime’s The Boys has gained immense love and appeal from its fans, as it has shown a refreshing take on superheroes, which goes beyond themes like nobility and selflessness. The series showcases a darker side of heroism and how individuals would act if they had superpowers. With relevant themes and equally dark humor, the show is definitely a fan favorite.

While the first season finale of Amazon Studio’s Gen V might have a divisive impact on the fans—on the one hand, some consider it to be bonkers, a gratifying end in sync with the universe’s subversive take on caped crusaders, while others consider it predictable, edgy fan service—there’s no denying the fact that it serves the primary purpose of world-building pretty well. There being a two-year gap between the third and upcoming fourth seasons of The Boys, the showrunners needed a filler series to expand the universe, and Gen V successfully did that by venturing deep into the rabbit hole of supe and anti-supe conspiracies.
Throughout the first season, Gen V left a trail of proverbial breadcrumbs of clues to explore the connection with The Boys, which ranged from cameos to clever plot twists. Some of these additions, like Soldier Boy’s cameo or the...

This article contains spoilers for Gen V season 1 episode 8.
It’s been quite a wild ride for the supes-in-training at Goldolkin University in season 1 of The Boys spinoff, Gen V. This article contains spoilers for Gen V episode 7.
Heads rolled (well popped) in the latest episode of Gen V, as Prime Videos’s The Boys spinoff delivered an action-packed penultimate episode that tied neatly into its bigger brother. The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke has already confirmed (via EW) that the Gen V finale will include a “handoff” to The Boys season 4, and with some significant cameos during “Sick”, things are starting to come together.
The Gen V trailer teased the return of Claudia Doumit’s Victoria Neuman, with the head-popping politician stopping by Godolkin University to put one of her sinister schemes into play. Having thrown Stan Edgar (Giancarlo Esposito) under the bus in The Boys season 3, she’s now on the way to the White House as a vice presidential candidate. Although we were on the money that Neuman was the mysterious benefactor of Marie Moreau (Jaz Sinclair), that...

This article contains spoilers through episode 6 of Gen V
The penultimate episode of Gen V’s first season is poised to be an intense one as Marie, Andre (Chance Perdomo), Cate (Maddie Phillips), Emma (Lizze Broadway), and Sam (Asa Germann) work to uncover Dean Shetty’s (Shelley Conn) plans for The Woods and how they connect to Sam and his brother Luke’s (Patrick Schwarzenegger) abilities.
Episode 7 will feature the return of Congresswoman and Vice Presidential candidate Victoria Neuman (Claudia Doumit), who grew up in Red River before being adopted by Vought’s former CEO Stan Edgar (Giancarlo Esposito). Even though Neuman is moving up in the world, and has kept her supe abilities generally under wraps as far as the general public is concerned, she seems to still have a connection with Marie, who also grew up at Red River. It’s likely that Neuman is Marie’s benefactor,...

This article contains spoilers for The Boys seasons 1-3 and Gen V season 1.
In the world of Prime Video’s The Boys, superheroes – or supes as they’re not-so-affectionately called – are a part of normal, everyday life. But these supes aren’t naturally born, they’re created by Vought Industry’s Compound V serum. Even though Vought does their best to control who does and does not become a supe, they don’t have control over how abilities manifest in people who take Compound V.
This leads to a wide variety of powers among the supes on the show, including those in the prestigious superhero group known as The Seven. With so many superpowered characters appearing in both large and small roles throughout the series, it can be hard to keep track of what exactly everyone can do. Here is a handy guide breaking down the powers of The Seven,...

Jensen Ackles's Soldier Boy is still lurking about in the "Boys" universe. The gory, parody superhero show welcomed him to the Supe crew in season three, which aired in the summer of 2022, though he makes a brief, profanity-filled appearance in the spinoff series "Gen V"'s sixth episode, which debuted on Oct. 20. The Vought superhero is a twisted take on another classic American comic hero, who arrived to stir up an all-out war amongst the Boys and the Supes, both old and new, in "The Boys"'s third installment.
He's nearly killed in an explosion in the season three finale but survives, only to end up being shipped off to a new cryo-chamber by the CIA. Still, he exists in the "Gen V" timeline, this time, as an imaginary friend to Maddie Phillips's Cate.

Actor Jensen Ackles switched up his schedule so he could reprise his role as Soldier Boy in the “The Boys” spinoff, “Gen V,” at the request of the series’ showrunner Michele Fazekas, and its executive producer, Eric Kripke, the two told TheWrap in an interview.
“We needed a marquee character to come in to be like our heroes’ guide within [Cate’s, played by Maddie Phillips] dream,” Kripke explained.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Gen V Season 1 Episode 6, “Jumanji.”] Gen V got a little trippy with its latest entry, aptly titled, “Jumanji,” as Marie (Jaz Sinclair), Andre (Chance Perdomo), and Jordan (Derek Luh/London Thor) found themselves trapped in Cate’s (Maddie Phillips) mind. After their minds were erased by their Supe classmate, she finally filled in the missing gaps as they were sucked into her subconsciousness. Walking around the dreamscape, the college students run into Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles), or at least, a version of him who claims to be Cate’s imaginary boyfriend. What follows is a graphic, yet hilarious account of Cate’s sexual awakening through this version of Soldier Boy’s eyes. Explaining how he was pivotal for her coming-of-age, Soldier Boy gets in Andre’s face, noting that no matter what Cate always comes back to him. It’s a scene played for laughs with all of the attitude Ackles played the ...

After the revelation made about Cate on Gen V Season 1 Episode 5, everything changed.
The story finally made sense and didn't feel as disjointed anymore.
On Gen V Season 1 Episode 6, the show took the main characters -- and Dustin -- on an emotional journey as they confronted some of the worst moments in their lives.
Somehow, Marie, Andre, Jordan, and Dustin found themselves inside Cate's mind, and a lot went down there.
First was the cameo by Soldier Boy that everyone had been waiting for, and I'm not everyone.
Soldier Boy was in like one season of The Boys, so I wasn't excited.
I could have also done without that scene based on how he was introduced.
Gen V and The Boys are known for pushing boundaries on what can be shown on TV, and we've always loved them for that, but is there a point where a line must be drawn?...

Spoiler Alert: This article contains spoilers for Episode 6 of “Gen V,” titled “Jumanji” now streaming on Amazon’s Prime Video.
This week’s “Gen V” came with a pleasant surprise for fans — and we’re not even talking about Thursday’s Season 2 renewal news that hit just before the episode arrived.
The installment featured the much-teased cameo of Jensen Ackles’ “The Boys” supe Soldier Boy, who appears to Marie (Jaz Sinclair), Andre (Chance Perdomo) and Jordan (Derek Luh/London Thor) as they travel through Cate’s (Maddie Phillips) fractured mind while she’s breaking down from doing too much brain-wiping/un-wiping of her friends on behalf of Dean Shetty (Shelley Conn).
Soldier Boy, who in “The Boys” universe is currently under lock and key in a government facility following the events of Season 3, says he’s there because he was Cate’s first crush and the object of her first masturbation session.

Despite himself being an adept superhero comics writer in the earlier days of his career, the ever-increasing popularity of the said genre has always irritated Garth Ennis, who holds the opinion that both comics and media have been getting saturated by the influx of stories regarding caped avengers. So in a way, The Boys, initially published by one of the imprints (Wildstorm) of DC Comics itself (the irony), was a hit piece against the dominance of the genre, a series that was chock fu tropes, perverted subversions, and Parody of iconic characters. The small-screen adaptation of the comic series of the same name on Amazon Prime goes a step further when it comes to poking fun at existing superhero media and indirectly alludes to other franchises in a pejorative way. Therefore, it is little to no wonder that the spin-off series Gen V will attempt something similar as well.

The influx of superhero-oriented content in pop culture media, especially some of the mediocre ones, has definitely contributed to the ever-increasing popularity of Amazon Prime’s edgy, satirical take on superhero media, The Boys. While poking fun at other franchises by making tongue-in-cheek references, individual performances from the likes of Antony Starr, Karl Urban, and Jack Quaid, hilarious self-awareness, and abundant use of sensationalism with sex and gore might have worked wonders for the series’ reception, to make the franchise overstay its welcome, franchise biz was always needed. Perhaps it was the reason why the makers decided to release a gorier animated series called The Boys Presents: Diabolical last year. And for 2023, they have expanded the canvas further and come up with a live-action spin-off called Gen V. It’s kind of ironic how gradually the franchise is becoming the very thing it used to satirize.

A lot of false rumors spread quickly because, while they may not have any supporting evidence, we can all kind of see the reasoning behind them. For instance, people believe the rumor that the killers in "Scream 2" were changed at the last second because that's the impression the movie itself gives. More recently, people believed that viral story of Jerry Seinfeld chastising Jimmy Fallon for being rude to his employee because, well, it sounded like the sort of thing both guys would do.
On the same note, it's easy to see how people believed that Jensen Ackles, the beloved actor who played Dean Winchester on "Supernatural" and Soldier Boy on "The Boys," once auditioned for the role of Captain America. The role, which would instead be taken up by Chris Evans, is exactly the sort of character we know Ackles could play: He's a strong, noble super-soldier, one without...

This article contains spoilers for "The Boys" season 3.
Though the Prime Video series "The Boys" is based on a comic book series of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, the show has deviated from its source material quite a bit. Showrunner Eric Kripke and his writing team have changed everything from the villainous Stormfront's gender to Hughie's (Jack Quaid) superpowers, but one storyline in season 3 got a major change that rendered a particularly infamous scene from the comics totally impossible.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Kripke detailed the reasons why one particularly well-known moment from the Herogasm arc in "The Boys" comics didn't transfer over to the television series, and for pretty good reason. The scene in question involves Homelander (Antony Starr), Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles), and sexual favors in a hotel room. While that sounds like the stuff of the most deranged fanfiction, the characters...

The long-awaited Prime Video’s The Boys’ spinoff, Gen V, will finally hit screens on September 29. It will focus on young superhero students at Godolkin University, training the world’s best heroes since 1965. They are the usual college kids who want to have fun, become popular, and get the chance to be part of Vought’s The Seven. However, with their unstable abilities and hormones involved, the stakes are high. While there will be cameos from familiar characters from The Boys’ diabolical universe, like Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles) and A-Train (Jesse T.Usher), the show’s main cast features several rising stars and...

Unfortunately, "The Boys" aren't going to be back in town anytime soon thanks to the ongoing strikes by the WGA and SAG-AFTRA and their ongoing fight to urge studios to give artists a fair deal. Season 4 of the R-rated superhero sendup has been pushed back from an expected release in early 2024 and, as of now, has no official release date. Over the course of three outlandish seasons, fans of the hit Prime Video series and Garth Ennis' original graphic novel can't help but notice how much the show tends to deviate from some of the major plot lines of the comic book.
For the most part, it's been a welcome curveball that keeps the series feeling fresh and unpredictable, allowing for even more of the jaw-dropping moments that have helped define the show as one of the most biting satires of the superhero genre. Adapting some of the more outlandish...

They are deranged, egotistical, maniacal, careless, carefree, narcissistic, powerful, and just about any adjective one can use to describe the complex superheroes of The Boys' world.
Every season of The Boys is more mind-boggling than its predecessor; one wonders how they come up with some of this stuff.
And it would seem their minds know no bounds because the people behind The Boys decided there was more to be said about nasty twisted superheroes. How about tracing their evolution from when people usually learn about themselves?
And thus, the idea behind Gen V was born.

I struggle to think of a TV villain scarier than Homelander on "The Boys." Played masterfully — almost too much so — by Antony Starr, America's greatest superhero is really anything but. He's toxic masculinity and U.S. imperialism packaged together with good PR and a soul-searing smile. Starr has a ravenous grin to rival a great white shark but with eyes of burning hatred, not black emptiness.
While Homelander is damaged beyond repair, the show doesn't imply he was born that way. Raised in a laboratory, "John" had a sterile, abusive childhood that left him with a psych textbook's worth of mommy and daddy issues. As an adult, he's actually scarier because he's pathetic — the most powerful man alive has the stability of a bratty 12-year-old boy. Homelander is less Superman gone bad than he is a grown-up Anthony Fremont (Bill Mumy), the child with the powers and temperament of Old...

“The Boys” supervising sound editor Wade Barnett calls his 2023 Emmy nomination an “exciting moment,” and it’s one he’s experienced before as he was also nominated for Amazon Prime Video’s comic-book drama in 2020. This time around Barnett is up for his work on the Season 3 finale, “The Instant White-Hot Wild,” which streamed last July. Watch the exclusive video interview above.
One of the reasons the finale was chosen to be submitted to Emmy voters is because it “had a lot of really good sound design moments,” the artisan tells us. “But also the story kind of all wraps up, so overall it’s just a really solid episode.” He adds that it’s a “really tough” choice to pick just one, because “these episodes are almost kind of like mini-movies.”

"The Boys" is arguably the biggest superhero show on television. Now that the Arrowverse is dead and gone, and with Marvel shows being really more like limited series (with increasingly fewer people talking about them), Prime Video's satirical drama based on the comic book of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson reigns supreme.
Just like any good modern superhero title, "The Boys" is already big enough to be at its cinematic universe stage, with an animated spin-off releasing last year to some acclaim, a new one just around the corner — and possibly more in the future. Sure, it seems ironic that a show so focused on pointing out the evils of capitalism and mega corporations turning superhero stories into massive franchises is becoming a franchise of its own, but "The Boys" manages to justify its expansion thanks to sharp writing and a love for cartoonish absurdism.

“The Boys” ramped up its outrageousness in every way possible in its latest, third season— from, uh, a shrunken man venturing into a human orifice to Jensen Ackles‘ emergence as the Amazon Prime Video show’s satirical take on Captain America (Steve Rogers)… Soldier Boy.

Jensen Ackles, Danneel Ackles, and their production company Chaos Machine are entering a first-look TV deal at Amazon, Variety has learned exclusively.
The Ackles and Chaos Machine were previously under a first-look deal at Warner Bros. Television. It was reported in October 2022 that they had extended the Wbtv deal for another two years, but they have now exited that deal for Amazon.
According to an individual with knowledge of the situation, the Ackles and Wbtv parted ways on good terms and any projects Chaos Machine had in development with their now former studio home remain in the works. The Wbtv deal was solely a producing deal, while the Amazon deal covers both acting and producing.
The new deal marks an extension of the relationship between Jensen and Amazon, as he previously starred in Season 3 of the streamer’s hit series “The Boys” as Soldier Boy.

The new deal marks an extension of the relationship between Jensen and Amazon, as he previously starred in Season 3 of the streamer’s hit series “The Boys” as Soldier Boy.

This article contains spoilers for season 3 of "The Boys."
Eric Kripke's Prime Video series "The Boys" has always been brutal, but season 3 was especially violent, killing off major characters or wounding them permanently. That's saying something when you take into account the fact that many of the characters are superhuman and incredibly tough to kill, but season 3 saw a whole lot of them kick the bucket.
Queen Maeve (Dominique McElligott), in particular, went through hell in the finale, losing an eye in the battle with Homelander (Antony Starr) and losing her powers in the battle with Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles). It looked like she died, but she miraculously survived, albeit as a normal, non-superpowered human with some pretty nasty injuries. This was a change from the character's fate in the comics, but it made a lot of sense given the changes to the character in general and her impressive arc over the three seasons.

Jensen Ackles joined The Boys last season to play Soldier Boy, America’s first and greatest superhero, and it sounds as though he’ll make an appearance in the upcoming spinoff series Gen V as well.
While speaking with fans during a Creation New Orleans convention (via Entertainment Weekly), Jensen Ackles revealed that his character of Soldier Boy will show up in Gen V. “Soldier Boy pops up for a brief moment in this new spin-off of The Boys,” Ackles said. “In fact, there’s a few cameos from the mothership that come into this spin-off. My little bit there was heavily [improvised].” Ackles added that The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke was on set with him for filming. “He and I were just, like, we were spitballing ideas and workshopping literally in between takes and coming up with a whole variety of takes,” Ackles said.

The Best Drama Actor line-up is one of the toughest to predict at the 2023 Emmys, as the last two winners — Lee Jung-jae (“Squid Game”) and Josh O’Connor (“The Crown”) — won’t be back to reclaim their prizes. That opens up the door for a whole host of new and returning leading men to contend for the gold, and one person who shouldn’t be counted out is Antony Starr (“The Boys”). He was recently nominated at the Critics Choice Awards for the first time, proving he’s an actor on the rise thanks to the popular Amazon Prime Video comic book adaptation.
During “The Boys” Season 3, Starr’s character Homelander, an egotistical narcissist who masquerades as a patriotic superhero, takes center stage as Butcher’s (Karl Urban) group of renegades tries to kill him with the help of a long-thought-dead superhero named Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles). Homelander’s entire existence...
