"Laughably inept" is right on the button. I'd never seen this one before, but I thought it was ultimately OK for such a no-brainer.
Zucco's initial continuity problems set the scene for what becomes one bizarre film, you name the gaff and it's in here - it's a laugh a minute! I even had to laugh at the clumsy flashback device, they would have certainly jolted the audience awake.
It was filmed in "Natural Color", not too bad and lending to the overall downbeat atmosphere but I don't think Lord of the Rings fans would accept it in 2004. I kept hoping Doug Fowley would shout "Roll 'em!", and Bela would threaten to destroy him but it wasn't to be in here. I've not seen anything as refreshingly daft for a long time, I wonder what it would be like after a bottle or two?
