Vice Squad (1982)
Great Sleaze-Fest!!
24 October 2002
I saw this movie when it first came out. Since I was just entering the teen years, and lived in a small town, this movie's gritty portrayal of L.A. streetlife had a profound effect on me. I didn't know at that time that such things were taking place in big town USA.

I credit this film, along with a few others such as the movie Hardcore, with advancing my education about some of the dangers in the world. It also made me want to never go to L.A.. These just aren't the kinds of things that get mentioned in travel brochures to Tinseltown. Although I kind of got that it was an exaggeration of what can go on in the skin trade, I also realized that in order to make a movie like this it had to have been based on events that were to have happened somewhere at one time or another. Interesting, though (albeit nauseating) twist on the usual violence in movies, i.e. coathangers....

Outstanding psychotic performance by Wings Hauser, and the vastly underrated and under used (pardon the pun) Season Hubley. I haven't seen it on cable in a long time, but would love to run across it again. For those who haven't seen it, it's definetly worth checking it out. That's if you can find it in your local video stores. The ones in my area don't carry it.
