Clean, Shaven (1993)
10/10
Painful but rewarding experience
31 March 1999
Grim, painful, and harrowing, Clean, Shaven is a truly outstanding film. Kerrigan is the first filmaker I can think of to accurately deal with the subject of Schizophrenia, mistakenly and sadly, often demeaningly, depicted as "multiple personalities" in mainstream film. Greene is mesmerizing as Peter Winter. And with the deliberately ambiguous subplot of the child serial killer, Kerrigan makes some very forceful statements of the perception of the mentally ill in society.
