I was recommended to rent this movie by a friend. I have seen some good anime recently and I usually look for art and animation direction and of course plot. Art and animation have this movie down solid, plot on the other hand is nothing more than boy loves girl, boy loses girl, boy fights bad guys to girl, boy saves day. Nothing gets complex like in Ghost in the Shell or Wind Named Amnesia. Oh yeah, did I mention everyone's head explodes in this movie. Ususally it only takes one punch and BOOM...no more head...and I guess that would mean lots of blood right? yes, I have never seen that much blood...ever! It is very bloody. It is a good anime if you want your mind to just relax. The ending has some beautiful art work. I gave it 8 stars merely because the animation and art were great...if it lacked these (e.g. Speed Racer) then it would have sucked royally.
