This movie is not nice or innocent at all. The change from the original of 25 years ago to now is a loss of integrity. The scene where the audiences manipulated into laughing when the little boy has a pair of underwear pulled tightly over his face and he can't see and is having a rough time breathing is disgusting.
This is a film that makes the big sister a hero while she ridicules the little boy. The mother is unlikable with feminist lines like "you do not need a man to complete you." Sexual innuendo and an uneasy plot with the boyfriend having the hots for the mother because the girl is in her body are not enjoyable. It is all humor based on jaded sexual tension which hardly interests the very young audience and is very uncomfortable. The stereotypes of arrogant teens and purple hair and spoiled youth is all presented almost as normal. Only the band final scene playing is worthy of seeing. But all and all this film is way over rated and not in the league of the original.
