I have watched this movie many times and think it deserves to be somewhat of a cult hit. Altman does a great job with the transitions, and the cast members are perfect for their parts. There are many memorable lines and scenes. The use of mirrors for many of the flashbacks is inspirational. Cher is at the top of her acting form, as is Karen Black and Sudie Barnes. I think the Five and Dime set is well done, as are the costumes. Kathy Bates makes one of her first acting appearances and does a great job of playing Stella Mae. I have purchased this movie twice as a tape and wish it would be reissued as a DVD. I think it could have a strong revival if it was!
