A blatant copy of Diwale Dulhania Le Jayenge
26 March 2006
Warning: Spoilers
Why I ask them? Why? Okay, try saying the title of this film and that of DDLJ ten times fast. It's like, you just have to wonder how somebody could conceive to make a film like this, with such a similar title and storyline to DDLJ, and worse yet, develop it, market it and put it out there for people like you and I to watch! It is just pathetic blatant plagiarism! The scenes copied from DDLJ are too many to count but let me just name a few: 1. Boy and girl meet while traveling in Europe (specifically in Switzerland) 2. Girl's family doesn't want her to marry Boy 3. Adventures in Europe before going back home to face the music 4. The title! :-/ 5. Girl is all prim and proper, waiting for her prince to come 6. Anupam Kher is here again!!! Okay, so he's gay, but he's here again! 7. Boy is so sure he will get the girl in the end. Just to mention a few! The worst scene was when Raja (Salman Khan) slapped Sapna (Karishma Kapoor) and her response is to break out in song, apologising to him for her Un-Indian-womanlike behaviour. Um, okay! I take it it's very Indian for a man to land tight slaps on a woman's face at will and expect her to sit there and take it. It might work for India, but it doesn't for the rest of the world. The two stars I managed to give it are for Karishma Kapoor's presence and great style/dance in the film.
