Well-written, great performances
3 April 2006
Catero Colbert is a young actor that is certainly going places. His performance was excellent. I thought the storyline was very good and very believable. The dialogue, while not the best, was fun. I especially liked the subplots. And it was also a movie that could be enjoyed by young teens. There was certainly a lesson in it in terms of life as an urban teen growing up in a suburban environment. What was also interesting was his struggle with his situation, and how he dealt with it. The fact that there was a love interest, without getting sexy or dirty or x-rated was quite refreshing. I found myself laughing at parts where there probably shouldn't be laughter. I think this was Marla Gibbs first serious role, and I think she did an excellent job. I also thought Stony Jackson was outstanding. I would certainly recommend this movie which is now on video to anyone with teenagers who wanted to just have an enjoyable time watching a good, clean movie with a real lesson.
