I just watched this movie and was very impressed. I have never seen a film that says so much, without dialogue, in under ten minutes. The director and writer are real visionaries. The music was awesome. The purpose of all great movies is to make you think, so mission accomplished. My personal interpretation was that both characters died in the accident but Drew, aka. Cole, is forced to relive it - hence his spirit outside of the vehicle. The flashbacks are vital to the plot. At the beginning of the film, it seems like Cole and Alice are breaking up and moving out of their shared apartment. However, the title and Cole's flashbacks imply that they are still in love. Totally worth watching!
