Fruits basket is an anime that can seriously appeal to almost any age. It can make you laugh, cry, and wonder about whats going to happen next. The depth of the characters is amazing, and their problems are realistic.
What I was MOST impressed by though, is that each character (although friends) was never the same as another character, Tohru, for example is kind hearted, selfless and hard working, while the 3 men she's taken up residence with (Shigure, Yuki, and Kyo Sohma) are all different from each other AND her. Shigure, is kind, perverted, and a tad irresponsible, Yuki, is polite, soft spoken, and smart, while Kyo is hot headed and has a horrible temper. Many other characters com in with a story, each adding to the background story of each other character, bringing in more and more depth.
One thing I wished they had put in the anime was simply more from the manga, as a first manga, second anime person, i noticed that a few story lines had been cut out.
