Review of Severance

Severance (2006)
8/10
Bloody good show
7 September 2006
British horror movies are really kicking the ass of the majority of sequels and remakes Hollywood is puking out these days. We have The Descent and Shaun of the Dead and now we have Severance, which is a bloody good show. The anti-cliché mentality and the unconventional use of music work well in this movie, which is somewhat progressive yet contains some tried and tested horror genre tricks. In general this movie is very funny and scary in equal measure, especially in some cases where you are laughing like crazy then suddenly seeing something scary! One brief moment that stuck with me in particular isn't scary or funny, but very heart wrenching. I won't spoil it, but it was very contrasting and emotional compared to the rest of the film.

Well arranged, well acted and generally well put together piece of work. One for the DVD collection. 8/10
