A really great, scarifying horror/sci fi flick

Whew! This is one scary movie. It contains an intellectual side to the typical gore-scare horror movie, with a sci-fi twist. The Event Horizon's trip out of our universe to another dimension and subsequent return create one of the scariest sci-fi flicks I've seen since Alien. Sam Neill has been good in many different roles, but this one is just downright thought-provoking. Was the loss of his wife and the subsequent guilt the catalyst for his breakdown and the seduction of his very being by the ship? The only downside for me was the murder of most of the crew. I think it is a classic horror movie plot line to have several deaths - thinking, 'who's going to die next'? But they could have made it more terrifying keeping the crew alive so that more of them were headed for the unknown dimension. The captain's sacrifice was the ultimate - not his death, but his travel to the other dimension alone. The end was cool too - does this part of the ship, being separated from the gravity drive, still retain its awareness of itself? And does it have the capability to take the new group to the other side? Definitely there was room for a sequel, if the actors would agree to return. Ah well - for now it just exists in my mind. But this movie scares the hell out of me every time I watch it.
