That's happiness
10 September 2007
Warning: Spoilers
If you have a chance to see this movie, don't miss it. Don't be confused by the plot. The movie is not really about alcoholism. Although the movie is very insightful on the topic. (Ex: alcoholics drink to be the person they can't be sober. Unless they honestly don't desire to be that person, they'll return to drinking) The title of this movie is Happiness (Haeng-bok may be the correct spelling) which is what the movie is really about. In the final climactic scene, which I confess I found difficult to watch, the guy who had left her so he could drink again, returns to her on her deathbed. They embrace. The camera focuses on the girl's dark eyes filled with tears and the expression on her face is that of happiness. She's near death, but she's happy because he's with her.
