I cannot believe someone actually commented that this version was the most like the book. Out of all the versions filmed this one was actually the least close to the actual story. The little girl playing Mary was an atrocious actress. The fact that no one could decide if she should have a British accent or just stay with her natural accent was one of the most irritating things about this one. Also, the ending that was attached was nowhere in the original story. It was added so they could then come back and make that horrible Return To the Secret Garden. To give it some credit if you have never actually read the book, it's a lovely little made-for-TV children's movie. If you adored the book (as I did), this show will just make you mad.
