While I wish I'd seen this movie in the theater, I can't imagine how that would have gone. Sure, it would have been great to share the (guaranteed) exuberance of the other viewers, but how could I dance while trapped in one of those binding theater seats? Without jumping on my neighbor's toes? Without the usher being forced to remove me at flashlight-point?
This movie is THAT infectious! I've never seen the original, and, in a way, I'm glad because that might have tainted my extreme enjoyment of this film. Someone called it "the ultimate feel-good movie", and they were right on the money.

All I know is, when it's time to watch "Hairspray" at home (which it often is), that means it's time to move some furniture around... to make room to dance, and to get fabulously happy!
