This ISN'T a prequel - if this were the case, *SPOILER* How could L have burnt up the DeathNotes around the beginning of the movie, or tie up the Kira case? But that was the first 10 minutes or so... Perhaps you should watch it before attacking anybody else's critique... ;) The only gripe i've got with this movie is that it makes a mish-mash of any continuity with the first two movies whatsoever... The Japanese sure do enjoy "alternate timelines" in their popular fiction...
Anyhoo, it's great to see L in action one last time, and if it were meant to be Death Note 3, that's exactly what they would have titled it. ;)
