Great if you're a fan, lacking if you're not
2 March 2009
I'm not a fan of the Jonas Brothers, but I am a huge fan of my niece, and she wanted to see this movie. That's the reason I went to see "The Best of Both Worlds," "High School Musical 3," and this Jonas Brothers' vehicle.

Since I'm not a huge fan, I was hoping that this movie would be akin to the Miley Cyrus 3D movie with a backstage peak at their lives, thoughts, talent, and how they are dealing with their immense fame. I was disappointed that the only thing I learned from the movie is which one is which--and that I didn't learn until the end of next to last song.

Instead, there were scripted moments at the beginning, and the unscripted moments were shots of the brothers in awe of their own fame and popularity. Its sole redeeming value is that the vocals were pre-taped, and the concert was a lip-syncing marvel.

When I mentioned the lack of back-story to my niece she told me--with a straight face, "That's what the book you gave me for Christmas is for." It almost goes without saying that my niece loved the movie.

I, on the other hand, say that if you want to see a decent 3D concert with the Jonas Brothers in it, rent the Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus 3D concert. I guarantee you'll enjoy it much more even if you're not a fan.
