Warning: Spoilers
This movie was terrible and it's a real shame because the cast is good. The main problem was the script that had no character development at all. The first 10 minutes of the film are really slow and nothing is added to the story.

All we see is a supposed elite military force acting like children and insulting each other and moaning about the mission. If they had spent this time introducing the characters and their relationships with each other then I might have maybe cared a little about what happens to them.

I get the feeling the writer of this movie had recently seen Event Horizon, Doom and Mutant Chronicles and basically copied any ideas that this movie does have from there, this film isn't as good as any of them though.

The annoying flashbacks that occur regularly for Cuba Gooding Jr. character are badly portrayed and fail at explaining the relationship between Cuba and Ray Winstone.

The Military unit act completely unprofessionally and don't watch each others backs at all and keep wondering off alone. It is like they have received no military training at all.

The intent and abilities of the 'ancient evil' is barely even touched on and left me very underwhelmed. This movie isn't at all scary and has no shocks or plot twists.

I could go on all day about the plot wholes and bad script. It was just such a shame that they wasted a good cast on such a bad script. Avoid this movie and watch Event Horizon instead.
