Not bad for a King Adaptation
27 September 2009
I remember reading the original short story and being taken with both the reality of the dialog between the main characters (it was written the way people really speak) and the disturbing effect of the subject matter. The current adaptation lacks any realistic dialog, turning the main characters in parodies of real people. I would accuse the principals of overacting but they weren't given a lot to work with.

Unlike the original movie, this adaption did stick close enough to the story satisfy most King fans and to catch some of the uneasiness the story evoked. Anyone thats been through farmland or lived in a really small town will recognize the settings and that something is not quite right.

As much as I did enjoy it, it suffers from the problem a lot of short story adaptations have. There is not enough original material to fill the time format ad padding has to be added. Usually when this happens it is to the detriment of th story, this movie is no exception.
