Great Cast and Great Locations but a definite Brick of a Script.

I am a firm believer that films should be judged on a case-by-case merit. So let's assume the Director of a modern noir classic like "Brick" had nothing to do with this depiction of "Grifters-Lite".

I must say the cast was top-notch. Rachel, Adrian, and Mark are all fun and interesting to look at actors. But after awhile a con-film needs more than Brody's eyebrow frow and Ruffolo's cocky demeanor to keep interest. So toss in a hot quirky yet insatiable Weiz and then stir for consistency? Oops almost forgot: add a PLOT. (and here lies the flaw)

The film is about cons yet there never seems to be any peril in the risk of the con. Even the way the cons are implemented are not hat interesting. Then let's not even discuss how some are carried out (one book heist comes to mind).

This movie seems like the Director was doing a class project. Given great students to assist. Then when he has to come up with a profession for his characters someone in the class shouted, "CON MEN".

Let me finish by saying Johnson has talent. Seeing this film didn't make me feel cheated, I knew the CON wan ON the whole time.
