Not able to get over the double standard

Warning: Spoilers
To start things off, I find it really hard to believe that an entire town comprises of saints who never have an impure thought, while the rival city's population is 100% corrupt and pretty much worships the devil. The world is not black and white. At first the overdoing of the hospitality had a nice touch similar to the Gandhigiri of Munnabhai. However, this went to the extreme, and a line needed to be drawn. It seemed to me that the villagers had no self-respect and were degrading themselves while sucking up to a traitor. Ignoring the crimes does not solve the problem; there needs to be communication. Then, when finally Priyanshu communicated the villagers' feelings, he gets a tight slap on the face, while Mr. VIP's 35-ft. tall poster is risen again. What kind of hypocrisy is this? Otherwise, everyone gave a great performance. Rishi Kapoor was great, as was Priyanshu and his girlfriend in the film. All supporting actors did a great job. The special appearance of the actress from Mera Naam Joker was a delightful surprise.
