Up is one of those movies that's difficult to dislike. It's hilarious, beautiful, and it will make many cry with its touching story line! Pixar has an excellent talent. I absolutely loved it, and I don't know anyone who doesn't.

The movie is about Carl Fredricksen, a man in his 80s. He's a bit of a grouch, but still a good guy. At the beginning of the film, he's shown as a boy, about 8 or 9 years old. He stumbles into a house and meets the girl of his dreams. Her name is Ellie. She talks a lot and was a bit annoying, but she's still a good girlfriend. Then the film skips to a 6 minute montage, depicting their whole marriage. No words, just background music. This scene is very touching and emotional. It shows them getting married, and a lot of people at the wedding. They have an almost perfect marriage together. Then eventually Ellie starts to die in a hospital. The scene is very emotional and sad. Her husband is right by her side. Then eventually, she passes away. At the funeral, he seems to be the only one there. It was the end of the funeral only.

After Ellie's death, Carl starts to sink in a bit of a depression. A boyscout named Russell shows up at his house and asks him if he needs any assistance to earn his 'helping the elderly' badge. Carl refuses, and Russell sits on his porch, hoping Carl will change his mind. Then eventually two men show up, trying to put him in a retirement home. Carl asks for a minute, goes back inside his house, then releases thousands of helium filled balloons and they actually make his house float! Russell is still outside, and begs for Carl to let him in. He does, but is reluctant. Eventually the house flies to South America, a place Ellie always dreamt of travelling to. In South America, Carl sees the falls Ellie spoke about. He was so happy to finally be there, and he attempted to walk over to the falls. Carl and Russell walk into a jungle and a dog comes up to them and starts licking Russell. Carl doesn't like the dog, and tries to make him leave. Eventually, he agrees to let the dog stay. Eventually while in the jungle, Carl, Russell, and the dog meet a man who was Carl's childhood idol, Charles F Muntz, who turns out to be the antagonist! Charles was looking for a bird that Russell befriended and named Kevin. And Charles would not stop until he found the bird. When Carl and Russell refuse him the bird, he tries to get both of them killed! He has a legion of talking dogs, and the dog that found Russell turns out to be one of Muntz's dogs, and tries to defend Carl and Russell. The dogs aren't successful, and Charles's plan eventually backfires. He falls to his death at more than 1000 feet. Eventually Carl and Russell both travel back home and both rebuild their lives.

I'd definitely recommend Up to anyone looking for a good laugh, and it's touching (I cried). I mean, who wouldn't want to see a man with a flying house? But seriously, Up is one of Pixar's greatest movies, along with Ratatoulle, The Incredibles, an incredible film, and don't forget Toy Story. Up definitely soars. DON'T miss it!
