Dirty Deeds (2005)
6/10
Formulaic but enjoyable high school comedy
30 January 2011
The story to this movie is as maddeningly stereotypical as they get, and the plot has such massive holes that it's really difficult to stay focused, but other than that this is a fun watch. I do remember laughing most of the time, I guess that's what counts. The situations in itself are hilarious (corpse scene!), the only time the writers get in trouble is when they try to give things some depth. The huge revelation that comes with the ninth deed is a particularly painful example, it's pretty much as surprising as snow in January. The makers have clearly also seen a lot of "American Pie", the bread scene almost feels like some kind of homage to it. Or not, it's probably just a shameless rip-off, but it's funny nonetheless. There are also a lot of good-looking women in this movie, so there's that too. The nudity is gratuitous, but who the hell cares. This is a lot better than the average high school comedy, even though it's still the same as the others.
