Forever Lulu (2000)
Strange movie
5 February 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Every so often, direct-to-video kings Millennium Films takes a break from their usual output (action movies) and does something quite different. Usually these different genre movies they tackle end up being strange, and "Along For The Ride" (a.k.a. "Forever Lulu") is no exception. For the most part, it has a surprising casual tone despite certain plot elements (like a man finding out he has a son he was never told about). Yet several times the movie has some surprisingly crude dialogue that seems really out of place. Also out of place are the behavior of the characters, who take what happens to them and their loved ones nothing like real people would act. Some of their dialogue is AWFUL. The movie's one decent scene is when the former flames meet their son for the first time. It's not a fantastic scene, but the awkwardness all the characters have seems believable. Anyway, with all those flat actors and dialogue, along with a flat and unspectacular look to everything, this resembles a bad made-for-TV show, which may explain why, despite the cast, this went straight to video.
