There's something off..
17 September 2011
Warning: Spoilers
This isn't a bad movie... there's just something wrong with it. Is it the writing? That it's the whitest cast and group of extras I've ever seen? The "twist" is kind of... INCREDIBLY LAME. And yet, somehow (I think because the cast is very likable) it's not totally bad.

And I hate to think it's because it's written by a Mormon but the whole conflict and motivating drive of this movie basically revolves around breeding small humans. THE WHOLE THING. And it's supposed to be this mystery to Christopher Gorham's character but he finds out and doesn't care and the tiny conflict is just magically gone so they can get married and I guess... adopt? (Oh and what's the deal with her getting a real job, deciding to move away and then not taking it? Falling in love is great and all, but doesn't she need to eat? Most book authors are not very wealthy.) Also, there should have been more depth or something to the brother-sister relationships. If two grown single people live together, they wouldn't be so easy breezy with each other. There would at least be teasing or fighting or roommate issues. No one gets along like that... It's creepy. (But I love Jonathan from Buffy and his little side plot was way more fun. Actually he was the only funny part of it.) But for all its faults, the featured actors are adorable and the clothes are cute. Of course, with most movies, that shouldn't be part of the review.

It's not bad for a rainy Saturday streaming on Netflix. But it's just kind of off.
