Review of A Trip

A Trip (2011)
9/10
A pitch-perfect coming-of-age story
28 October 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Izlet (A Trip) follows three school friends who reunite to take a trip to the seaside to go camping, mess about, get high and pretend they're still carefree kids. But they're no longer kids, and the tensions and pressures of the transition to adulthood slowly emerge, putting pressure on the friendship. Unspoken secrets from the past rear their head, and a devastating revelation will force them to take the leap into what being a grown-up really means.

Nejc Gazvoda's directorial debut is a pitch-perfect observation of youthful angst, helped enormously by excellent performances from his three talented leads. Despite it being a very simple story, it is heart-wrenchingly moving, while always staying on the right side of sentimentality and using mordant humour to great effect. Watch it if you possibly can.
