Warning: Spoilers
I was really upset that this movie did not follow the original story at all – NOT!!! I was a little leery about the movie at first since I did not think Antonio Banderas could pull this off. Was I ever wrong – the comic timing in this story was a hoot. The woman playing his catty girl friend was too funny as well – oh yeah – that would be Salma Hayek. Let me see, she was in that movie – ah – no – not that one. Wait! She was on that TV show – ah – nope – not that one either. Well whatever she was in before…I personally will always remember her as 'Kitty Softpaws'. Don't get me wrong, I feel the pain of those who felt shorts-rifted by Hollywood because 'they' veered away from the original story (and – in this case - they not only veered away but ran over the original idea several times, flushed it down the toilet once or twice and then set it on fire.) But come on – if you watch TV or waste money on movies – 'they' do it all the time. Look at the Americanisation of, 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.' She has problems and handles them in the original story. I bet Hollywood will blame her problems on 'Bush' or her house was built over some Native American burial ground. In any case – this was a lot of fun to watch and the cast was super.
