Greenberg (2010)
9/10
Slow, but ultimately rewarding

So it takes it's time, never feeling rushed nor pulling you through the story with any dramatic plot line, and for that reason it feels like the fair reflection of life that I think the director wanted it to be - and that goes for the ending too.

It is, without a doubt, the best Stiller performance I've ever seen (and over the years I've become quite a fan) and Greta Gerwig is a revelation - her character, delicately and considerately played, is flawed but incredibly lovable - and for that reason you can buy into the fact that for those reasons she could see past the unlikeable "surface" nature of the main character to the best parts of him and thus potentially be Greenburg's saviour.

The dialogue is excellent throughout, but be warned - if you're looking for Hollywood fluff then stay away as this film will frustrate you. But if you're looking for something with a little depth and you love great acting for the sake of the art form then this will reward you handsomely.

Well done to all involved, it's one of the most believable love stories I've seen in a long time.
