The blind leading the blind . . .
21 February 2013
Warning: Spoilers
. . . as this documentary states this is the only election in U.S. history for an office as important as mayor of a city with at least 7,900 residents in which two or more candidates are legally blind. I can think of no way to cross-check this "fact;" even if true, would it be more significant than an election for county commissioner in a 9,300-population district in which all the contenders suffered from the heartbreak of psoriasis? The main antagonists in this story are the hopeful for the Democratic Party, and the Republican option. One of these men wants to disband the local high school (since the teachers dislike all the money he's lopped off the education budget), publishes a fake "newspaper" with misinformation about any town resident who disagrees with him, belittles all the townspeople behind their backs, and tries to find some governmental means of harming anyone who voices the tiniest bit of dissent to his rule of terror (saying flat out that occupants trapped in crumpled cars should be left to die if the alternative is for any of his business friends to be startled by the lights and siren of a passing ambulance). The other guy wants to fund the school, fix the roads, and pick up the trash. Do you know America well enough to guess which candidate belongs to which party?
