The long voyage home
4 March 2013
***SPOILER*** It's when legally blind elementary school student Harold Danton, John Magna, snuck out of a city bus that he and his fellow blind students were on that his teacher and the person in charge of the kids Ruby Jay, Diahann Carroll, suddenly feared the worst for him. For some time Miss. Jay has been drumming into Harold as well has her other blind students heads her unorthodox approach to their disability and how to cure or overcome it. She wants them to act independently as if their normal with normal vision. And that's exactly what Harold is now doing!

With a city wide police manhunt for Harold he almost gets himself killed a number of time in not being able to see the traffic as well as dangers that he faces walking home from mid-town Manhattan to what seemed like Brooklyn Heights in the Boro of the former home of the lovable Bums-Brooklyn Dodgers- Brooklyn New York. Despite his near blindness as well s also losing his corrective gasses Harold does make it to the Brooklyn Bridge with NYPD Det. Adam Flint, Paul Burke, at Miss Yay's insistence is tailing Harold by car to see that nothing goes wrong for him. Like Harold being hit by a car truck or bus.

***SPOILERS*** As it turned out it was Harold special education teacher Miss.Jay who instilled in him the Independence in himself and his ability to be normal that in the end got Harold home safely. Even though she risked losing her job for doing it. And it was Harold's parents Mr. & Mrs. Denton,Graham Jarvis & Audra Lindley, who never for once doubted her teachers ability as a special ed teacher, even though at times during Harold disappearance she did, who couldn't thank Miss. Jay enough.

P.S As for the unusual title of the "Naked City" episode "A Horse has a big head-Let Him Worry" that was the massage from a Chinese fortune cookie that Miss. Jay cracked open as she together with Det. Flint and his girlfriend Libby Kingston, Nany Malone, were out dining in Chinatown at the end of the episode.
