Haganai: I Don't Have Many Friends
21 March 2013
Warning: Spoilers
One only has to watch the opening of this series to realise it is going to be heavy on fan service; not that that is a surprise in a harem series. The story follows Kodaka Hasegawa, a transfer student who is believed to be a hooligan because of his blond hair; actually it is natural due to his English mother. He soon meets up with friendless girl Yozora who decides to start the 'Neighbours Club' to help people make friends. This club is soon joined by Sena, the daughter if the school's headmaster, Rika a perverted scientist and Yukimura, the only other boy to join although his gender is open to question and he usually wears a dress! Completing the group are Kodaka's younger sister Kobato, who believes herself to be a vampire and Maria, the club's supervising teacher who just happens to be a ten year old nun! Once the club is established they get up to the sort of things one would expect in this kind of series; going to the pool, the beach, a festival and singing karaoke amongst other things. The group are clearly becoming friends as the series progresses but that doesn't stop them being antagonistic towards each other; in particular Yozora and Sena and Kobato and Maria.

I enjoyed this series far more than I'd originally expected to; yes there is a fair amount of fan service; mostly involving the large-chested Sena whose bikini leaves little to the imagination. There is a little bit of actual nudity although this is hidden by 'lens flare'... presumably things won't be hidden on DVD releases. The characters were pretty good although Yozora's bullying of Sena did reach uncomfortable levels at times. The reason I enjoyed it was because there were a good number of laughs in every episode; the way Yukimura perverted everything was hilarious!
