A Step Down From the Original, But Still Decent
9 June 2013
Picking up where the first film left off, the survivors are now on a race against time to defeat the evil that has trapped Athens before international forces drop the bomb that will destroy them all...

The first film probably should have ended where it did without this follow-up. While I appreciate the attempt to explain the evil's origin, the introduction of the world outside Greece... and the presence of Billy Zane (who either speaks Greek or has a person who does voiceovers with his tone perfectly), it just cannot compare to the first film.

The effects are cheaper, the plot is thinner (which is a bold claim for a zombie film)... and overall it was just not as fun. The increased supernatural elements were a big turn-off. I liked the introduction of militant groups that take advantage of the chaos, but they did not have time to be developed and I have no idea what their motives or anything were. Perhaps they had none?

Worth watching? Not so much, but maybe if you really need to see who survived the first film and how...
