But where? Most people believe Bullying is a problem with today's youth as they believe bullying is detrimental to a child' well-being and development. Others believe that a little bit of bullying has some good sides to it, because it has builds character that is need for the harsh adult life. What the movie fails to do is explain or examine why bullying happens. In no way is bullying new to society, and only limited to children. There is a lot of bullying in adulthood as well. This includes schooling, family, the workplace, home, and neighborhoods. There is also bullying in the military, where disciple is key to success there. The movie directed by Lee Hirsch doesn't focus on any of those things. They portray bullying as only a problem that only U.S children deal with in schools and acts like it doesn't happen in other schools outside of America. The film follows the lives of five students who face bullying on a daily basis. What the audience sees are truly horrible acts of crudity toward these children because they are different from the others that spark at first a Rated R rating. It wasn't until people complain that because of the R rating, that the movie was turn PG-13. I agree with that, most kids won't get to see this film if R. No one under 17 will be allowed to see the movie, and the film won't be screened in American middle schools or high schools. It makes no sense for it to be R. Still, South Park was right. If this video needs to be seen by everyone, why don't you put it on the Internet for free? In no way should people be force to pay money to see a movie about bullying. In a way, that's bullying to get people to see it. Anyways, the movie just films the children with their everyday life and it's harsh. In a way, we can related to these children, because at one time, we were either the bullies, or the victims. Some of these children with grow up just like us, into a larger harsher world full of violence and death. Some of them with end up commit suicide, such in the case of Taylor Long. Others will grow up to continue to be bully, while others would end up being strong enough to fight against it. Is bullying harmful? Bullying that's limited to friendly leg-pulling can be good as long as it doesn't rub the self-esteem of the child. Such kind of bullying can help children to interact with those having diverse points of view. In some ways, shaming does help enforce morality laws of the day. Example: if one commit rapes, society will shame the person or bully the person because it's wrong. In no way does society wants people like that, and some people would view bullying a rapist as a good thing. Is bullying bad or good? It's decides on the social top that cause the bullying in the first place. In a way, people that are against bullying can be seem as hypocrites because how modern society is run. Example: the film was produce by The Weinstein Company that promotes theatrical acts of violence and have scenes where heroes bully others such in case of 2012's Django Unchained or in better case, 2005's PG movie Hoodwinked! There will always be bullying, just like how there will also be violence. It's human nature. In a way, while this might be an offensive to some people, it might be Natural Selection to shame what we view as weak so that they can prove without a doubt, they are not. What I love about the film is that they show that in fact, schools do really do care for the children, and are indeed trying to stop bullying from happening. Also its shows in some cases like the story of Kelby for being gay. That in fact, some of the teachers could be bullies themselves because it goes against their own moral teachings and force their beliefs onto their students. I do like how the film does show the negative effects of bullying in the minds of the victims such in the case of Ja'Meya Jackson who took a gun into school to stop the bullies. I like that the filmmakers honestly didn't just stand back and allow Alex to be mistreated like that. Too Bad, Alex wasn't strong enough to tell them to stop it. The movie does a great job in explaining a bit of the mindset of why the bullies bully the children, but fails to explore more into it such in the cases of Parental bullying, and Cyberbullying that causes children to bully as well. Overall: it's a documentary worth checking out even if it's doesn't explore the cause of bullying or tackle the psychology of it. In no way does the movie explain ways to stop bullying. In the long run, bullying isn't going to end anytime soon. How people deal with it depends on their confidence levels and the development of their social skills. They should realize that the world outside isn't going to be just the way they want it to be and should learn how to fight against it.
