Miami Vice: Brother's Keeper (1984)
Season 1, Episode 1
Crockett and Tubbs excellent debut
22 July 2013
A New York street cop goes to Miami to take down a murderous head of a drug cartel. Meanwhile, after an undercover operation goes wrong a Miami Vice detective finds himself after the same perp'.

Episode 1 of the atmospheric, gritty yet pastel cop show, Brothers Keeper part 1 sets the foundation to many of the stronger episodes of the series. The clothes, guns, drugs, clubs, music, speed boats and cars are a part of the appeal, but it's the characters that are the glue that holds it altogether. Michael Philip Thomas and Don Johnson are perfectly cast, in this episode inadvertently stepping on each other's toes at first then agreeing to work with each other. There's some tension in this outing notably a car bomb, later an assassination then the conflict between the leads.

Overall, part one is a great pilot episode and its not hard to see why the series continued.
