Mission: Impossible: Decoy (1970)
Season 5, Episode 8
7/10
Former IMF agent in a different role

Warning: Spoilers
*SPOILER ALERT*

This episode has Julie Gregg who appeared in Season 4 as Monique who worked with the IMF team. Now, she is the target of the mission instead. Perhaps they could have brought her back as Monique and worked again with the team, but then you already have Lesley Warren (Dana). This particular episode also included a romantic tie-in with one of the IMF team members (Phelps in this case) which was duplicated in other episodes. The mission was to get some documents that have Western leaning government officials listed on it along with a woman (Julie Gregg) who keeps the document out of the country. The police chief (Michael Strong) and her brother (Paul Stevens) are conspiring on making her divulge the contents of the documents so that a purge of those allied to the West can be done to the government. The mission has Paris allowing the police to know that he is an American agent attempting to contact the woman and to take her out of the country. Phelps and Dana play a brother-sister role who are made to appear to being used by Paris to get close to the woman and the documents. Barney impersonates being an undertaker and Willie plays a security officer who are involved in getting the woman hidden from the police monitoring so that she can be taken out of the country. In the process of working on the woman, Phelps becomes close to her as she has never had a close relationship with a man. The brother eventually reveals his desire to get the documents to his sister as they are offered a chance to get out of the country. Paris then takes the brother's place at a funeral ceremony. A switch is made at the funeral chapel as Phelps and the woman are hidden inside a casket compartment. The police eventually get around to the funeral party only to discover that the woman and Phelps have disappeared. As the hearse carrying the casket is pursued by the police, Phelps and the woman exit the hearse in a small low clearance vehicle that is able to go right under the border gates for them to escape. The episode ends with Phelps and the woman still declaring their affection for one another as the woman has to make a new life adjustment. The ending did not show how Paris, Dana, Willie, and Barney got out of the country.
