Runner Runner (2013)
6/10
Predictable Thriller
4 October 2013
Warning: Spoilers
I saw "Runner Runner", starring Justin Timberlake-Trouble With the Curve, The Love Guru; Ben Affleck-Argo, Reindeer Games; Gemma Arterton-Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, Quantum of Solace and Anthony Mackie-Pain & Gain, The Hurt Locker.

This is a predictable thriller about the world of online gambling. Justin plays a Princeton math whiz that gets cheated in an online gambling poker game-FYI; Runner Runner is a poker term that refers to a card that completes a hand or improves it. Anyway, Justin goes to Costa Rica to confront Ben, who is the head honcho down there of the online gambling site that took his hard earned college money but, low and behold, Justin ends up getting a job working for Ben. Gemma plays Ben's girl friend that Justin, of course, just has to make a play for and Anthony plays the local F.B.I. agent that has been trying for years to arrest Ben but has never had enough evidence to make it stick. If only he had someone that he could pressure into getting the evidence for him. It's not a bad movie, it's just predictable. It's rated "R" for language and sexual content-I do not recall any actual nudity-and has a running time of 1 hour & 31 minutes. It's not one that I would buy on DVD but it would be fine as a rental.
