Review of Agneepath

Agneepath (2012)
7/10
Definitely a intense first half but not-so-satisfying second half

Warning: Spoilers
This movie is based on Agneepath (1990) which starred Big B in lead role of Vijay Dinanath Chauhan.Must say ,it was a brave decision to remake and later the original movie sequences. I was not expecting it to be a good movie but it proved to be very good. Karan Malhotra did an excellent job organizing this. First half is intense and great ,while not creating 1990 scenes again which were so perfect. Hrithik Roshan,Priyanka Chopra and Sanjay Dutt did a great job portraying there roles honestly.Supporting cast is great too. But the real winner is Rishi Kapoor ,he is perfect as a sleazy girl- trafficker who sells underage girls.Kancha(Sanjay Dutt )was supposed to be the main antagonist but Rishi's Rauf lala overshadowed him. Movie goes on with effective soundtrack and score by Ajay-Atul especially the songs "Abhi Mujh Main Kahin" "O Saiyyan" and "Chikni Chameli" . The second half slowly drains everything with over melodrama and boring shots especially the climax which seems dragged like many scenes in the second half. The only scene i liked about the climax is when Vijay recites Agneepath poem while hanging Kancha on the same tree on which kancha hanged his father in front of the whole village. Hrithik is perfect in that scene. Not comparing it to the original, this movie is still good and worth a watch as a homage to the original ,and the fans of Karan Johar
