Dillagi (1999)
4/10
Another remake of SABRINA yet a good directorial debut of Sunny
8 August 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Sunny Deol ventured into direction with this film, For a change he didn't opt for an action film, but a romantic love triangle. In the same year he did PYAR KOI KHEL NAHIN which too was a similar love triangle and it flopped. This film is a remake of SABRINA(1954),A few years before this film, YEH DILLAGI(1994) released which too was a remake of the original and a hit. The film is quite decent, though predictable, yet some scenes are well handled by Deol. Like Bobby's casanova act, his love track with Urmila and the break up, even Sunny-Bobby scenes are good, Bobby's revenge triats towards the end and Sunny's accident is well handled However things do get predictable and slow paced towards the second half.

Direction by Sunny Deol is decent for a first timer However he could've chosen a better story Music by Jatin Lalit is awesome however many tunes are lifted from English songs, KOI NAHIN AISA is a good song, though copied from Mony Mony (Tommy James and The Shondells), while Haan Haan Yeh Pyaar Hai is also a good number yet copied from Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You, Shehron Mein Jo is also a good song, while Yeh Zameen Hai Rehguzar has good emotive value, Main Kya Karoon is a superb song by Kumar Sanu, Dhoom Dhoom Lakh is typical Punjabi song by Sunny and Bobby rest are good

Sunny Deol repeats his PKKN act but does a good job in a sober role, Bobby Deol is superb as the casanova, though at times he does overdo Their chemistry is awesome Urmila is decent, Zohra Sehgal is brilliant Dara Singh is good, rest are all okay
