When the head of Venezuela's Lovelace family is killed Roberta goes on the rampage hunting for those she holds responsible. She traces them to the city of Roanapur; home of the Black Lagoon group of smugglers. News of Roberta's arrival worries the locals and it turns out she isn't the only heavily armed made in town; Fabiola; another of the Lovelace's maids has arrived along with young Garcia Lovelace. They approach the Lagoon Company, and specifically Rock, for help in finding Roberta before it is too late. Against advice from Dutch, Rock agrees and so begins another dangerous job. Roberta isn't just going up against criminals; her targets are in the US Army.
This short OVA series is a welcome return for the Black Lagoon Company. The atmosphere is somewhat darker as Rock has come to terms with the fact that no matter how he tries he can't help anybody. Since this follows on from the main series, the episodes are even numbered as part of the overall series, it is advisable to watch that first as no time it wasted introducing the old characters or their situation. As one might expect there is a fair amount of bloody violence; although any viewer who is likely to be bothered by that would have given up on 'Black Lagoon' long before this OVA started! It is a bit far-fetched, especially the final confrontation, but I found it gripping enough for that not to matter. Overall I'd say if you enjoyed 'Black Lagoon' you'll enjoy this too; I certainly did.
