Hot Pursuit (2015)
7/10
Just OK, but it succeeds in its promise: make you laugh.

Warning: Spoilers
From what i saw in the trailers, i had some good and relatively high expectations for Hot Pursuit, not only it seemed very funny but it had the always incredible Sofia Vergara and Reese Witherspoon and it reminded me a bit of The heat.

And now that I've seen it, i cant say that it matched my expectations, and the film isn't a great one, but it serves it purpose, to make you laugh, and i had plenty of laugh. As in many not perfect comedies, there's jokes and scenes that make you laugh a lot and others that just come out flat and don't work, for example i think the make fun of Reese Witherspoon's character flaws by Sofia Vergara's character many of the times instead of being funny come out as frustrating and offensive, almost like bullying. And this is the worst thing about this film, and it never shows that special bond between the characters, that made The Heat one of my favorite comedies of all time.

Ultimately the film comes down to being very over the top, and using this either in scenes or characters to make you laugh but it is also this that makes the film not work as it should. Sofia's character doesn't let her show how great she is in comedy, which is a shame.

The story is just there because and you obviously now how it will end, but this isn't supposed to be the most important thing.

In the end this isn't a great film, but i had a really good time seeing it and i laughed a lot, which is the purpose of the film, and if nothing else, it succeeds in that.
