5/10
An OK horror film

Warning: Spoilers
This legendary classic 1980 slasher flick is the one that started the famous Jason Voorhees franchise. Starred Betsy Palmer and Adrienne King, this movie gives offers up plenty of gore, horny teens, and a deranged mother seeking revenge. The acting was less than satisfactory, it wasn't terrible, it's just that some of it was really cheesy at times. I did think that it took a little too long getting going, the best part was the last 40 minutes. That was when the screaming and offscreen killings and action happened. Some of the fighting and action was cheesy and kinda funny, it wasn't supposed to be though, so that's not good. At 1 point an axe rises behind a girl, and she has she the most laughable cheesy scream I've ever seen or heard, I was kinda annoyed by that, I just thought the actors could've done a lot better than that. I did enjoy Betsy Palmer's performance though. I did like that the killings occurred offscreen, so I didn't have to suffer through what most modern day horror movies do, meaning the constant full detail graphic horror violence. I like it when movies leave something to the imagination. I didn't mind seeing the somewhat bloody aftermath of the victim's bodies. So overall, just an OK horror film, enjoyed parts, and laughed at others 5/10.
