Soviet scary animation

"Yozhik v tumane" or "Hedgehog in the Fog" is exactly what the title says. It was made 40 years ago and is possibly the most famous short film by movie maker Yuriy Norshteyn. A hedgehog (reminds me a bit of the Soviet Winnie Pooh without the spikes) goes off to visit his friend, a bear cub. Unfortunately, it is a very foggy day so that the trip becomes a bit scary when he runs into all kinds of other animals. But most (all) of them are fairly peaceful, so the little hedgehog is worried for no reason. I would say that this is a pretty solid film in terms of pretty much every aspect: the narration, the story and the animation. Still, I must say that I did not find anything really outstanding about it. It may or may not be a good thing that hedgehogs are possibly my favorite animals ever, so I have some expectations and I am not sure if these were fulfilled. First of all, it could really have been about any animal as the central character. There is nothing really that makes sense in terms of one thinking oh with this story it really only could have been a hedgehog. He is not even turning into a spiky ball (or is he at one point? it's not really clear). And I somewhat found the bear even cuter than the hedgehog, he looked so chubby and funny somehow. All in all, a decent short movie, but maybe not really for very young audiences due to the scary aspects in the middle of these 10.5 minutes.
