A shame, I hope they will find their way back

Warning: Spoilers
First: I really love(d) this show, it has everything I find fascinating, Victorian London, the Supernatural, strong women, interesting men, however, I am not sure, if the show is keeping its high standards in the third season. First I was offended by the statement in episode one that the Germans and Belgians have turned so many Africans into slaves - these countries are about the ones with the smallest share in colonies AND slavery, the British, the French and later the Americans-yes, but not these - looks like bashing other countries to have a scapegoat, which is evil, dishonest, hypocritical etc - usually a deal breaker for me when it comes to keep watching a show. Then there was the hostel-like torture-porn scene at the end of episode one and the asylum scenes in episode two which make me fear that Penny Dreadful is on its way to becoming an American Horror story rip-off, which would be a huge shame, since AHS, a rip-off itself, and a bad one, is the entire opposite of what Penny D. was and why I love(d) Penny D.: PD is delicate, artful, innovative, fascinating, while AHS is coarse, clichéd, tacky, lowbrow (and likes to make up lies and disgusting stories about other countries and their citizens for the mere effect of having another shocker for the viewer, which just reveals the poor quality of the writers) etc. I really, really hope the makers of PD know better and turn the wheel back around...
