Rebirth (I) (2016)
6/10
An average movie with some redeeming qualities

Warning: Spoilers
I just saw Netflix' Rebirth. Let me start off with some positive things: The acting in this film, as many other reviewers before me have already pointed out, is great. Fran Kranz delivers another convincing performance. The sets look good and support the overall tone of this movie effectively. While the concept is a bit gimmicky, it worked well and set a good stage for the unfolding events.

This movie is, however, far from flawless.

The plot line is simple and relies at points too much on the main character acting the way he does, which was really distracting. This is something that could have been avoided with some minor rewrites. Shame. Also, what is this movie really trying to say? As another reviewer before me pointed out, the movie cannot decide what it wants the Rebirth organization to be. This really kills the movie for me. Watch it, and you will understand what I'm talking about.

Also, the ending is somewhat unsatisfying, a wee bit pretentious and seems awfully rushed.

This movie did not reach its full potential.
