Mildly funny spoof

Warning: Spoilers
"Space: 1899" is a 3.5-minute spoof of the successful Sci-Fi television series "Space: 1999" starring Oscar winner Martin Landau and others. The premise by writer and director Gareth Randall here is the following: What would the show have looked like if it had been made during the days of silent film, thus the change of numbers in the title. I think the main reason why this short film is not too famous is that the show referenced in here is really only known to big science fiction fans today. I myself have not heard about it either before coming across this short film. Another reason may be that it is just never funny in terms of the dialogue writing (fully grown characters talk about getting laid) and the intertitle parts get old pretty quickly and lose their charm through the film, even if it does not even run for 200 seconds. All in all I would not say this is a particularly creative achievement and I am not surprised why Randall has not made any new films in the decade since this came out. I hope if he ever returns to filmmaking, then he has stepped up his game in the years passed as this one here gets a thumbs-down from me. Not recommended.
